Attempted using algebra tiles to unpick how to calculate 5x^2 today.. Persistence needed I think as we move on to substituting into multiple terms.

It's funny the effect that a simple sentence can have... "What can I try first' led to a lot of different thoughts... It also eventually led to a class conclusion connecting factors of the total amount and the ratio used.. Via lots of practice! @DrHelenDrury @laura_tyler_

Planning lessons on the train home to the North East following #ACPConference24 - they are awash with purposeful practice and tools of mass participation! Thanks for a great day everyone.

What would your wish list for y6 Maths be? What skills do we need our students to have in order to hit the ground running in y7?
Sharing my current project with year 10 to demonstrate a use of the Maths we're learning.. there's a definite sewing/Maths project somewhere here 🤣
Really interesting to go from a Year 7 lesson on adding negatives into a Year 10 lesson where a HA student made a mistake with the same topic and couldn't understand why... Why it's worth spending the time in Y7 to get depth of understanding couldn't have been clearer!

Unlocking what makes a square number (and not!) through squarearrays and multilink cubes - really enjoyed today's lesson!
When you're captivated by a thought at lunchtime.. and still trying to figure it out in the evening... Mastery of Maths feels like a never ending journey! 36 and still discovering 😃
Has fallen down a rabbit hole trying to divide numbers like polynomials today... Interesting!
James spent his afternoon constructing a nasty virus graph... Isn't it funny what a 7 year old picks up on via the news!
Using manipulatives to investigate associative laws and making connections to arrays! Great thinking going on in year 7 today 😀
