Incredibly proud of the @ShelterCymru team for putting this one together. A real coming together of lived experience and data to make a powerful point. Over to the next Welsh Government now to commit to some solutions (we are happy to lend a hand)
Today we are launching our report: Understanding Affordability, which proposes a new way of thinking about what affordable means. Rooted in the reality of renting, we worked with renters to understand how unaffordable privately renting is in Wales today. Thread🧵

Really important topic. The Welsh Government cannot realise it's ambitions on homelessness unless the UK Government a) stops putting up barriers and b) supports more social housing. Vital Welsh MPs hear and carry that message.
Yfory am 2.30pm | Tomorrow at 2.30pm We will hold a session on housing and homelessness in Wales to examine how UK Government policy can support people facing housing challenges, hearing from @ShelterCymru, @CymorthCymru, @BevanFoundation and @Crisis_uk.

Mae landlordiaid fel arfer yn cael gorchymyn meddiant gan y llys cyn y gallwch gael eich troi allan. Yn aml, ceir gwrandawiad llys i’r barnwr benderfynu a ddylid gwneud gorchymyn mediant. Byddych yn siŵr o’ch hawliau os wnaiff hyn ddigwydd i chi: shorturl.at/EUtU8

Most landlords have to get a possession order from the court before you can be evicted. There is often a court hearing to help the judge decide whether or not a possession order should be made. Make sure you know your rights if this happens to you: shorturl.at/EUtU8

After the welcome passing of the HASHA Bill yesterday, today marks a shift in focus. We must now seize the opportunity it represents and turn its ambitions into better housing futures for people across Wales.
We welcome the passing of the Homelessness and Social Housing Allocations Bill - a landmark moment which has the potential to transform how #Wales prevents and tackles #homelessness. whq.org.uk/2026/02/10/senedd…

We've held our last @ShelterCymru staff meeting of 2025 & thanked our colleagues - without whom we couldn't help 12k households p.a. or advocate for a better housing future for people across Wales. This is our Winter Appeal - pivotal to our work.
This Christmas in Wales, one in every 210 children will be waking up homeless. It's a heartbreaking statistic. It doesn't have to be this way. Home is everything. Please help us protect it. Give the gift of home this winter: sheltercymru.org.uk/donate
