This week I went on pilgrimage to see Mary Linwood at Tate Britain, and Mary Knowles next to her. And then Mary L next to her own embroidered Napoleon at the V&A where I had to fight through queues of swifties. 1/2
I said I was coming back to Twix land to talk about my forthcoming textile history project but I might as well also tell you about my current (this week only) exhibtion in my garden studio. It’s about the loss of front gardens and other land-based projects. 1/2
It’s free! It’s only tiny. In my garden in Loughborough. You can find out more here including the address. 2-4pm Weds (today), Friday and Sunday 11th August.

Well Twitter folks, I’ve not really been using this space much, let alone @criminalquilts which is mothballed. But it’s time to come back as I’ve got a big new textile history project to share and this is the best place for textile-historian-museum networking, isn’t it?
PS you paid staff in #arts orgs - #artsfreelancers are done with surveys, surveys, more surveys esp where questions are leading - eg ‘which of these services would you like best?’ Ie excludes factors not on yr radar). And no, entering a prize draw isn’t attraction you think…
Great reflections from @ruthsinger on the value - and skills - of public engagement (from an arts / creative practice perspective, applies to other areas too) -

Had a great day with @glam_cares introducing values and behaviours using bingo and snakes and ladders. My area of research is the bit between freelancers / artists, participants & organisations and how care is essential to making this collaboration work 💫
@RuthSinger starts our first interactive workshop looking and values and behaviours and what this might mean for our wellbeing in the relationships we have in our work. @glam_cares#GLAMCares2024
Wow - a wonderful start to #GLAMCares2024 with a workshop on values - and where friction and happiness collide when working with freelancers - led by @RuthSinger
