Ontem pela manhã, o Salão Nobre da Reitoria da Universidade Federal da Bahia (UFBA) recebeu a cerimônia do #Kwibuka32, reunindo autoridades acadêmicas, estudantes, pesquisadores, representantes da sociedade civil e membros da comunidade diplomática para honrar a memória das vítimas do Genocídio contra os Tutsi em Ruanda, em 1994. Em um momento de profunda reflexão e solidariedade, os participantes acompanharam o acendimento de velas e um minuto de silêncio em homenagem às mais de um milhão de vidas perdidas, além de testemunhos emocionantes e debates sobre as causas do genocídio, a responsabilidade coletiva da memória, a prevenção de futuras atrocidades e os processos de reconstrução e reconciliação que transformaram Ruanda nas últimas três décadas. In a moment of profound reflection and solidarity, participants took part in a candle-lighting ceremony and a minute of silence in memory of the more than one million lives lost, while also engaging with moving testimonies and discussions on the root causes of genocide, the collective responsibility to remember, the prevention of future atrocities, and the reconstruction and reconciliation processes that have transformed Rwanda over the past three decades. The Embassy of Rwanda extends its sincere gratitude to the UFBA Rectorate, the International Relations Office, Professor Jonnas Vasconcelos, Dr. Camila Andrade, and Paulo Pan for the valuable insights shared with guests and participants. Ontem, a Universidade Salvador (UNIFACS) recebeu a cerimônia do #Kwibuka32, reunindo estudantes, professores, autoridades, representantes da sociedade civil e membros da comunidade para recordar as vítimas do Genocídio contra os Tutsi em Ruanda, em 1994. A programação teve início com a tradicional Walk to Remember pelo campus, um momento de reflexão coletiva e solidariedade, seguido pelo acendimento de velas em homenagem às mais de um milhão de vidas perdidas. Ao longo do evento, palestrantes e participantes abordaram temas essenciais como a prevenção de futuros genocídios, o combate ao discurso de ódio e ao divisionismo nas redes sociais, os perigos do negacionismo e o papel da juventude, da educação e das universidades na construção de uma cultura de paz. Throughout the event, speakers and participants engaged in meaningful discussions on preventing future genocides, countering hate speech and divisionism on social media, addressing the dangers of genocide denial, and highlighting the role of youth, education, and universities in building a culture of peace.
