It’s June 11th. Salah Sarsour has been detained by ICE since March 30th, has not been found guilty of a crime since he was a child, and is being treated horribly, having lost 30 pounds in detention. He is not receiving vital medical and religious accommodations. (1/2)

We must free Salah Sarsour. And abolish ICE, with justice for everyone harmed by their authoritarian actions. Link to article here: wpr.org/news/milwaukee-musli… (2/2)

Data centers, K-12 public schools, and taxing the rich were among those tonight, and they’re among our top focuses. Thanks to everyone who came out to the town hall at South Shore Park Pavilion *and* from the Historic Water Town Neighborhood Association. (2/2)

When it comes to the broken Evers-Vos-LeMahieu deal, those saying it would've created a structural deficit and created major problems for the next budget are groups like the Legislative Fiscal Bureau and Wisconsin Policy Forum, who offer nonpartisan analysis. This is telling.

Finally. That Reagan line was dogsh*t.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani mocks Ronald Reagan’s infamous quote. “I can think of nine words more terrifying than ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help…’” “I worked all day and can’t feed my family.”

Good policy matters. In 2021, after I passed the Right to Counsel providing legal assistance to families facing eviction, bad-actor landlords started giving up their properties. I’m thrilled that the trend has continued, and that more and more residents are able to own the…

Counterpoint: this is capitalism, and has been for a very long time.
A scoreboard paid for by taxpayers running ads from a monopoly utility paid for by ratepayers. This is not capitalism.

Today marks Nakba Day, an annual day of remembrance to commemorate the expulsion of more than 700,000 Palestinians between 1947 and 1949 during the creation of the State of Israel and the year that followed. Inea is a New Yorker and a Nakba survivor. She shared her story with us — one of home, tradition and memory over generations.

There is so dishonest, disingenuous, and disappointing. 1. The rebate checks would have completely skipped about 30% of WI adults, including seniors on Social Security, and half of the $ would have gone to those making over $100K per year.

Tony Evers fought so hard for so long for fairer maps that would give Democrats in the legislature an opportunity to have a seat at the table, but at a moment where it really mattered, he just never invited them to dinner.
NEW: I wrote about the "blockbuster" deal failing at the finish line, and how a fractured Republican Senate caucus and the Evers administration failing to engage with the Democratic Senate led to a missed opportunity. Let's recombobulate: therecombobulationarea.news/…

It’s a great sign we were able to stop Governor Evers and Speaker Vos’ rushed plan for our temporary budget surplus. They would spend half the tax relief on folks making six figures — & most often nothing, an average of 74 cents per check, for seniors and others in need. (1/2)

The likely consequences? A $2.9 billion structural *deficit* for the foreseeable future. We should instead consider AB 1176, which I’m very proud to co-author alongside @RepPhelpsWI and @repcruzwi! It’s an actual, sustainable plan to fund K-12 schools. (2/2)

I’m so grateful for the many, many stakeholders who spoke up and against Evers/Vos/LeMahieu’s sloppy, lame duck, $1.8 billion plan to spend down Wisconsin’s surplus. A deal that would have provided zero help to 1.4 million of us. You stepped up and defeated this! Thank you ❤️ 🌹
