The MBTA is required by law to report any fatalities to oversight agencies within two hours of the incident. Those agencies says they didn't know a man had died after getting caught in an escalator until we published an investigation nbcboston.com/investigations…

JUST IN: Mass State Police say courthouse security cost for the 2nd Karen Read trial was $295K. That's about $40K more than the 1st trial. This is in response to a request we submitted on July 15, 2025. Here's a look back at what prosecution cost taxpayers nbcboston.com/news/canton-ka…

A man died on an @MBTA escalator. Steven McCluskey was at the bottom of a moving escalator for more than 20 minutes before a T employee hit the emergency stop button. The state safety board wasn’t informed and only found out because @RyanNBCBoston and @pictureboston got curious. nbcboston.com/investigations…

Worth your time. Just scroll. Incredible.
This is probably a long shot, but if anybody happens to be in DC this weekend and plans on visiting Arlington, I would love to see a fresh photo of my husband’s grave in Section 60. SSG Alan W. Shaw Section 60, Grave 8451 B Co 1/12 Cav, 1st Cavalry Division November 10, 1975 - February 9, 2007 There’s just something about knowing people still stop by, still say his name, still remember. 🇺🇸⭐🇺🇸

Reporting that makes a difference. Proud of @RyanNBCBoston, @pictureboston, and the @NBC10Boston Investigators. “After man's death, MBTA warns riding public about escalator danger As the NBC10 Investigators first reported, 40-year-old Steven McCluskey died after he was caught at the bottom of a moving escalator for more than 20 minutes. In the wake of that incident, the MBTA will be displaying public awareness announcements about escalator safety on digital signs around the Boston area.” nbcboston.com/investigations…

I was interviewed here, as I joined @RyanNBCBoston to share how @NBC10Boston broke the sad story of the fatal escalator incident at #MBTA 's #Somerville Davis Square station. I’m very proud to have been a part of such an impactful story.
How did we find out a man had died after getting caught in an MBTA escalator at the Davis station in Somerville? nbcboston.com/investigations…

Glad to see this important story, first reported by @RyanNBCBoston, getting more attention. When a death was reported as a "fall" on an escalator, Ryan quickly requested the surveillance video. Without that instinct — and that speed — this story would never have been told. bostonglobe.com/2026/05/15/m…

"A single person stepping up would've made the difference." We spoke with a psychologist about "bystander effect" and why so passengers at an MBTA station did not help a man who was caught in an escalator and later died nbcboston.com/investigations…
