Good to keep in mind: DC taxpayers have given @Janeese4DC over $2.6 MILLION to fund her campaign for Mayor, while she seems to be coordinating with outside independent expenditure groups funded by dark money from NY.
.@Janeese4DC to appeal OCF ruling calling it “an absurd order… riddled with factual errors” JLG raises familiar concerns about OCF process “Filing an order without legal merit just before an election follows a disturbing pattern of OCF’s conduct“ @nbcwashington

NEWS: The D.C. Office of Campaign Finance is fining @Janeese4DC's campaign $16,000 for having "violated multiple provisions of District campaign finance law and the Fair Elections Program." OCF is also fining the union-backed @WashDC4all political action committee $4,000.

This is a wild take: “Let’s let corruption happen leading up to an election & we can just sort out the details later.”
We need an absolute OCF blackout close to elections, after this episode and what happened to Elissa back in 2022. The only way that happens is via legislation through the DC Council—we’ll need to wait for a new committee chair (overseeing OCF) in 2027-28 to get this done though…

Thinking back to being a kid watching the @USMNT for the first time in the 1994 @FIFAWorldCup. Have watched every squad since & @AlexiLalas is spot on here.
“I think that’s the greatest half of group play from a men’s team at a World Cup in history. Everything went right, total dominance from top to bottom.” 🇺🇸 @AlexiLalas is fired up after the @USMNT went up 3-0 in the first half vs Paraguay

It is not hyperbole to say that that is the best half of soccer the US has had in history

On this day in 1963, NAACP Mississippi field secretary Medgar Evers pulled into his Jackson driveway after a late night of civil rights work, carrying T‑shirts that read “Jim Crow Must Go.”

Evers, a World War II veteran and one of Mississippi’s most effective NAACP organizers, died less than an hour later and was buried at Arlington, his murder helping galvanize support for landmark civil rights legislation.

The killer, Byron De La Beckwith, walked free for decades after two all‑white juries refused to convict him; only in 1994 was he finally found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison.

The best part of World Cup X is the de Tocqueville-esque posts from foreigners who see 🇺🇸 through appreciative, fun and new eyes Good reminder there’s lots to love about our country.
We found another surreal place on our way. I know some people will say I’m too positive about everything I see, but this place was crazy. They had a shooting range in the store.

A spectacular light show lit up Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia after Pope Leo blessed the basilica’s newest tower. The basilica, soaring 50 stories above Barcelona, had been under construction for nearly a century and a half. It was the improbable dream of architect Antoni Gaudí, who died in 1926 with less than 15% of the structure complete.

Funny enough, White House renovations were also a hot topic back then. Front page of the @nytimes, June 10, 1926: cc: @DrTedJ
"There is one major difference," @DrTedJ writes. Calvin Coolidge and many of his policies were popular. Donald Trump and many of his are not. wapo.st/4oiRUm1
