You need 3 folders.
1. Opening - Songs you start your set with. These need to set the mood for your set.
2. Mid - songs you use to transition from opening tracks to the peak of the set.
3. Peak - All your peak time records.
The whole thing is about time and energy. Even if you’re only going to play peak time records you need to structure those in a way that it builds the energy of the room also.
Usually I play something old, something new and something that’s going to make you think wtf so you have time to go to the bathroom or go get drinks and while you do that it rotates the floor so the guys who like the wtf song come to the front or move around. By the time you get to the bathroom or bar you’re walking back to something you’ll like.
I’ve found people don’t really enjoy a dj who plays hit after hit the whole set as much as you think. It’s all about the energy and mood in the room.
I've been practicing how to dj for 2 months now I got good for the 1st month of my practicing now i feel like I took 5 steps back because I've lost timing, Sequencing of mixing tracks 😭😭mxm
