The New South Institute (NSI) invites you to an important discussion on corruption and reform, tracing how patterns of state capture emerged, what sustains them, and what it will take to rebuild ethical and accountable public institutions.
Drawing on two seminal works, Shadow State: The Politics of State Capture (by Ivor Chipkin) and The Shadow State: Why Babita Deokaran Had to Die (by
@wicks_jeff), the event explores how networks of patronage and informal power have reshaped South Africa’s institutions, and how we can better protect those who expose wrongdoing.
