I spent much of Strade Bianche with Pinarello-Q36.5 as they targeted the race with Tom Pidcock I spoke to Pidcock, Doug Ryder and Kurt Bogaerts and headed out to a feedzone to watch Pogacar pass by like a motorbike... Read it in @TimesSport here! thetimes.com/sport/cycling/a…

The Selfish Gene was the first time I truly understood evolution… one of my most recommended books It still stands up and it’s interesting that Dawkins thinks there’s still not much he would change 50 years later
I enjoyed speaking to Richard Dawkins, to me one of the great post war writers. We talked about his first book The Selfish Gene and his next book, a sci-fi novel, about a Homo erectus "Romeo and Juliet" love story thetimes.com/culture/books/a…

Sure, it was a weaker field... but Vingegaard looks back to his best both physically and mentally. This Giro victory signals the start of another chapter in the the Vingegaard-Pogacar battle at the Tour de France and I can't wait. Me for @TimesSport thetimes.com/sport/cycling/a…

I have just finished this by @Longshanks1307 and enjoyed every moment of it. Despite studying archaeology I’ve never fully understood the Anglo-Saxons (so totally lost in numerous Aethels) until I read this. Next up, The Norman Conquest!

Concussions are a complicated issue in cycling. The protocols are there and they are good, but logistically they are hard to always adhere to. There is also the culture of riders "bravely" struggling on to compete with. I wrote about it for @TimesSport thetimes.com/sport/cycling/a…

🚲 Does cycling have a concussion problem? Adam Yates was initially cleared of symptoms before being forced to withdraw from Giro d’Italia following heavy fall, highlighting sport’s complicated issue with brain injuries ✍️ @SAntoniRussell thetimes.com/sport/cycling/a…

The third week of the Giro d'Italia is now a glorified training camp for Vingegaard - he may even let Piganzoli go in search of the Queen Stage on Friday... Pogacar will surely be paying attention to Vingegaard's domination. Me for @TimesSport thetimes.com/sport/cycling/a…

The hours I spent on that floor (working, as well as studying) were some of the best of my archaeology degree... I made so many discoveries I wouldn't have online - scanning bookshelves is what makes libraries special. This seems a real shame and a huge loss for students
Astonishingly, Cardiff University is adding insult to injury in its cuts by closing their Humanities library with a three-week notice. Do sign the petition against it: you.38degrees.org.uk/petitio… via @38degrees

Also, this is why I love the Giro d'Italia... finds a way of throwing up stages like this even without GC action Having said that, not sure I'd have given Eulálio quite so much time
Crazy win for Igor Arrieta at @giroditalia - ridiculously hard-earned stage for the UAE rider after a fall and going off-course all under torrential rain Pink jersey for Afonso Eulálio but had nothing left at the end
