From family:Our beloved John passed away yesterday peacefully of natural causes at 102.He had that smile and happiness til the end.John had a remarkable life with love for family and dedication to work that made such a positive impact on so many.He will forever be in our hearts.

It was also announced, to further honor Mr. Shear, that the Santana Mile will be renamed the “John Shear Mile,” which will be run on Sunday, April 10th.
