ضبطت الجهات المختصة كمية كبيرة من حبوب الكبتاغون المخدّرة، كانت مخبأة بإحكام داخل معدّات صناعية مخصصة لإنتاج مادة الطحينة المستخدمة في الاستهلاك البشري، وذلك أثناء تجهيزها للتهريب إلى خارج البلاد. تواصل الجهات المختصة جهودها الحثيثة في مكافحة المخدرات على كامل الأراضي السورية، انطلاقًا من حرصها على تجفيف منابع هذه السموم وحماية المجتمع والحفاظ على أمنه وصحته. The competent authorities seized a large quantity of Captagon pills, which were tightly concealed inside industrial equipment designated for producing tahini used for human consumption, during their preparation for smuggling outside the country. Briefing Issued by the Syrian Center for Combating Drugs on the Latest Developments in Efforts to Combat Drug Manufacturing and Trafficking in Syria As part of the ongoing monitoring of developments in the war on drugs, and in an effort to keep the public and concerned entities informed about this critical issue, the Syrian Center for Combating Drugs presents this briefing, highlighting the most recent operations carried out by the competent authorities in their efforts to combat drug manufacturing and smuggling. In Daraa Governorate, the Anti-Narcotics Department successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotic pills—exceeding 800,000 tablets. This operation, executed through a tightly coordinated security effort, led to the seizure of the shipment before it could reach its intended destination, marking a significant achievement in disrupting illicit supply chains. In another notable operation, conducted jointly by the Anti-Narcotics Department and the Security Directorate of Homs Governorate, authorities uncovered a facility for manufacturing Captagon pills in a border area adjacent to the Lebanese Republic. The entire contents of the facility were confiscated in preparation for destruction in accordance with applicable legal procedures. The increasing frequency and tangible outcomes of these operations reflect the seriousness and coordination among the state’s relevant agencies in addressing the growing challenges posed by drug manufacturing and smuggling, particularly in sensitive border regions. Mr. Bilal Al-Nasser, the General Coordinator of the Syrian Center for Drugs Control Foundation, participated, along with a delegation from the foundation, in the “Pharmakon State” event held in the Syrian capital, Damascus, during a panel discussion titled: “The Reality of Drugs and Addiction in a Troubled Society: Between Use and Recovery,” organized by the “Tarakom” team within the framework of the “Pharmakon State” project. During the session, Mr. Al-Nasser presented an intervention in which he addressed the reality of the spread of drugs in Syria, pointing to the significant increase in rates of use before and after 2011, highlighting the role played by the defunct regime in the proliferation of this phenomenon, both through policies and systematic practices. He also reviewed the most prominent types of drugs widespread among various segments of Syrian society, touching on the efforts made by the Syrian Center for Drugs Control Foundation through its programs and projects aimed at prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation. On the sidelines of the event, the foundation's delegation visited the awareness art exhibition held at the Anti-Drug Center in the city of Jaramana, under the title “Pharmakon”—a Greek word meaning “medicine and poison.” It is an awareness art project launched by artist Khaled Barakeh, with the participation of a group of male and female artists, aiming to shed light on issues of addiction using visual arts as an effective tool for community awareness and fostering positive change.
