Announcement! 📣 A new feature is coming to the podcast with season six of the show: We will now offer ’30 Years of SCREAM, 30 Questions: A SWRCS Interview.” Like Sidney & Gale in Scream 7, we love an interview 💜 Starting August 2026, every week Ryan will interview one member of his community with a fresh set of questions about their specific viewpoint on SCREAM, reflect on living through the Spyglass era, and celebrate the 30th anniversary of SCREAM (1996). There will be four to five long-form questions asked first, then 30 speed round questions that follow designed to evoke answers that describe your SCREAM personality. (This has been increased from 10 previously.) Every member of the community will receive this opportunity for a 30-minute sit-down, and each interview is designed for the individual member to have spiritual ownership of the episode in which their interview is published.     Ryan hopes everyone to feel included, have a “moment” (another, better defined “moment” since most everyone has completed the original, more limited speed round) and be memorialized in the podcast, as we reflect and move into the SCREAM future. How to secure your interview? You must have an active membership at the link in profile, subscribe at any tier 2 and above, or tier 1 annually. DM with any questions.

June 15 is Courteney Cox’s birthday. Happy Birthday, Courteney! This artwork also reflects the SCREAM 7 poster with Neve/Sidney in the Drew Barrymore original poster style, only with Gale Weathers. New! Ep. 335 - Morality of Gale Weathers & Ranking Courteney Cox’s TV Roles (Courteney Birthday Episode) In her honor, we debate the morality of Gale Weathers as a character. In addition, we review Courteney Cox’s four major TV shows: Friends, Dirt, Cougar Town, and Shining Vale. Also, we analyze “Hoax” (from Taylor Swift/folklore) as it applies to Gale’s character in Scream (2022), Scream VI, and Scream 7. Listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or Youtube! #scream #scream7 #screammovie #CourteneyCox #GaleWeathers

#scream7 I love this scène
In SCREAM 7, Sidney reflects from afar while Gale tries to hide her nerve damage and permanent injuries from her New York Ghostface attack, after their fight. This is the best moment in any SCREAM film since the Craven era. It’s stunning, emotional, and multifaceted. The complex Sidney-Gale dynamic is pushed forward by Kevin Williamson by exposing the consequences of Scream VI and the depth of their complicated 30-year relationship. Courteney Cox’s physical acting is stellar, shocking, and unlike anything she has ever done before as Gale Weathers. Also, this is the mesmerizing subtle acting by Neve Campbell that made Sidney Prescott legendary.

Disclosure Day (2026) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 4 This film may not rank among Spielberg’s best for me but there’s still plenty to admire. Emily Blunt delivers a moving performance that anchors the film with heart & grace. Some may expect a massive spectacle filled w/constant thrills, but that isn’t really the point. The film’s ideas/themes become a character of their own. Its message about empathy, compassion, & our connection to one another may sound simple on the surface, but the longer I sat with it, the more deeply profound it became. Spielberg has explored these themes before, yet few films have expressed them w/this level of sincerity.

SCARY MOVIE 6 expresses its thematic message in how Cindy/Anna Faris transforms over the film. The Wayans use a visual metaphor to convey their reclaiming creative control over the franchise for the first time since SCARY MOVIE 2.   When we first meet Cindy, she’s characterized with unkempt blonde/grey hair and in a more stereotypically “older” way. This is how the requel tries to project the original characters to be, while phasing them out. Even Sarah tries insulting her mother as being “like 70 years old.” Cindy’s blonde color hair is the same as SCARY MOVIE 3 and 4, where the Wayans were not involved.   In the climax, Cindy blazes into the finale with straightened black hair and a chic outfit, looking awesome and as she did in SCARY MOVIE 1 and 2, the movies where the Wayans wrote/directed. This visual representation shows the OG legacy characters for what they actually are: powerful and confident, rather than how they have been projected in “pass the torch” requels.   Cindy, the original protagonist, returns to reclaim the center stage in the end. Just as the Wayans may have lost the creative power of SCARY MOVIE for a time, they reclaim it in victory with SCARY MOVIE 6. This can also apply to Neve Campbell reclaiming her franchise, SCREAM, with in SCREAM 7 after being sidelined in SCREAM 5 and not paid in SCREAM VI. #scarymovie #scream #annafaris #ghostface #scarymovie6

Steven Spielberg praises Taylor Swift: "Her place in our culture rivals that of the composers of the American Songbook, Lennon McCartney of the ’60s and the singer-songwriters of the 1970s like Carole King and Stevie ‘Let’s Go Knicks,’ and your namesake, James Taylor... Through her songs, she has taken billions of people by the hand and by the heart, and lights them with a message that is rooted in community and infused with hope and relatability. Through her songs, she makes us believe that we are in this together and together we can grow up, live, love, make mistakes, succeed, fail, and yet continue to believe in our own self-worth. Somehow, Taylor knows us all too well." variety.com/2026/music/news/…

The DNA of Scream. My favorite part of SCREAM 7 was the Sidney & Gale dynamic & the full circle evolution of their relationship 30 years in the making. Beautiful stuff.

#DisclosureDay was a little bit of a mixed bag for me. I liked it enough but there are problems. The saving grace of the film is Emily Blunt. She gives a truly profound & beautiful performance. I was fully engaged every time she was on screen. The film has thrilling & powerful moments we have come to expect from Spielberg which makes it even more frustrating that the end product doesn’t fully payoff. The biggest problem is the script feels a bit dated/half baked & the runtime is about 30 minutes too long. DISCLOSURE DAY has important thematic themes of empathy & compassion Steven Speilberg excels in, but we have seen him deliver this story before & way more successful. I am happy I watched it for Blunt & the directing but don’t see myself revisiting this one often.
