5A STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS š§ļø
History was made in both 5A championship races at Rim Rock Farm, as upsets and dominating performances highlighted the season finale.
After being even through the first two miles, Spring Hillās Logan Beckman put his foot on the gas and pulled away from the pack to win his first-ever 5A state title. Beckman clocked 15:23.94, the second-fastest time of the day. Beckman also led Spring Hill to their first state title in program history, knocking off the two-time defending champions Blue Valley Southwest, 35-40.
On the girlās side, Salina Central senior Katelyn Rupe successfully notched the three-peat, winning her third consecutive state title in cross country, and her seventh overall. Rupe took down pulled away late and broke the tape in 17:09.77, a new Rim Rock Farm course record. For the third-straight year and fifth time since 2017, the ladies of St. James were crowned 5A champions, moving up over the last two miles to pull away for a 77-93 victory over Kapaun Mt. Carmel.
