What links plastic to climate change? 👇 Every piece of plastic produced is contributing to the climate crisis. In this fast-paced world, plastic is old tech. We need to move to a fully circular system and not ignore plastic’s huge carbon footprint any longer. ❌

Excellent info on the complexity and threat to the environment of bioplastics. We must avoid all types of plastics and all types of single-use packaging wherever we can. There is no magic material that will allow continued rampant consumerism
Replying to @GeorgeMonbiot
Favoured feedstocks for bioplastic are maize and potato starch. Both crops are notorious for the soil erosion they cause. They also require large applications of pesticides, fertilisers, irrigation water and diesel.

The horrible environmental cost of 'home compostable' bioplastics. So many of us don't know about this. And so many of us don't even have composting facilities - what happens to this material then? Find out here: theguardian.com/environment/…

An actual high street repair shop, great idea. Come to the Trinity Rooms in Stroud today for the local Repair Café and our monthly meeting on reducing plastic ☀️
We opened a Fixing Factory today! An actual shop on an actual high street! People can bring their broken stuff and get it fixed for free. This will reduce waste, cut carbon, and help with the cost of living crisis in the local community.

Can you help with a short behavioural research study for Oxford Brookes University on the motivational drivers of people who have the intention to shop as plastic-free as possible? Please contact us for more info
