If you are a parent in SD — and you are only interested in D1 or D2 offers for your kid, you are a problem. SO MANY parents in this state think their kid is too good for the regional NAIA programs. These are miserable parents and WE HAVE A LOT of them in SD right now.

Wonder if coach Scheyer communicated to his young guards in that situation that there is 9 seconds left…. you hold the ball in the backcourt, protect it, and wait for the foul. There was absolutely no reason for Boozer to try advance that over a defender. BAD freshman mistake.

I told one of the kids I work with that he needs to take at least 2 weeks off. He’s playing in a tournament now. Some AAU programs are making kids feel like they are missing something or not committed for not playing in March tournaments. These athletes need mental breaks.
I’m sorry — but an AAU tournament 7 days after the state tournament and their HS seasons ended is just wrong. Let’s focus on the kids and not the business. Give these kids some time off🤷🏼‍♂️ #aau

THIS TO THE MOON🤷🏼‍♂️
Another weekend of kids playing 6 games and taking 30 total shots instead of spending a couple hours both days and getting up 1000s to actually improve their shooting. They are getting great highlights though- against garbage competition, while developing bad habits

Sam DeGroot being the AA player of the year and Gatorade POY should mean that he has to be Mr. Basketball, correct?

This is a very intriguing transfer to follow. From the GPAC to possibly D1 would be an amazing story! He is absolutely skilled enough in every aspect of the game. Size would be his only concern at the D1 level.
Jalen Langsy, the second leading scorer in NAIA is transferring and exploring the D1 route Jalen had an unbelievable year for Northwestern, averaging 27.3 PPG on elite efficiency, shot 57.6% FG and 50.8% from 3 on 8.8 attempts per game while shooting 90% at the line The 6-1 sophomore hit 152 3’s on the season, should quickly become a highly touted prospect for D1 programs (@JalenLangsy_)

Averaging 27 ppg at any college level is insane.

Would love to know what people in SD think of the AAU circuit; specifically your thoughts on if top teams/players from SD should play regionally (in front of regional colleges), or on a shoe circuit where they travel the country (away from regional colleges)?

I’m not saying rational programs from our area don’t travel away from the region to recruit. But I also do know they primarily stay regional as SD talent usually tends to stay close to home.

One thing the portal is protecting, school stat records. The 4-5 year player is mostly gone.
