It was truly an honor to welcome home 267 Airmen from the 114th Fighter Wing after four months supporting critical national security missions. As a former Guardsmen myself, I couldn't be more proud to serve as Commander in Chief of the South Dakota National Guard.

Yesterday, I supported the South Dakota Army National Guard by hosting a groundbreaking ceremony for their new Watertown Vehicle Maintenance Shop. This investment sends a clear message: South Dakota supports our soldiers. In my State of the State Address, I declared that national security is South Dakota’s next big industry, and this project supports that mission. This groundbreaking isn’t just about a building. It’s about the men and women who serve, it’s about readiness, and it’s about delivering results for South Dakota.

The SDNG mourns the passing of retired Maj. Gen. Philip G. Killey, former adjutant general of South Dakota. A Vietnam War F-4 pilot with 129 combat missions, his service and legacy will be remembered. Our condolences to his family and loved ones.
