Before we can solve the problems facing Arewa, we need people on the ground documenting what is happening. We need volunteers, citizen reporters, investigators, writers, and journalists committed to uncovering facts and telling the truth.
In the wake of the tragic killing of a woman and her children in Kano State, an incident that sent shockwaves across Northern Nigeria, I made this video (entirely in Hausa) to share my thoughts on how the people of Arewa should respond to the challenges affecting our region.
We need to move beyond blame games and focus on meaningful action and accountability.

Every incident of insecurity, corruption, injustice, or community failure should be properly documented with evidence, testimonies, pictures, videos, and reports. Problems that are not recorded are easily ignored.
We also need respected leaders, professionals, traditional rulers, religious scholars, and civil society groups willing to back action and ensure recommendations are implemented instead of being forgotten after a few days.
The future of Arewa will not change through silence. It will change when citizens become active, informed, organized, and determined to protect their communities and hold leaders accountable.
Making duโa and trusting Allah should not stop us from documenting crimes, demanding accountability, supporting victims, and working to prevent future tragedies. We must do our part and then put our trust in Allah.
Most importantly, we need a mindset shift. Too often in Arewa, a tragedy happens and within hours people move on with โAllah Ya isaโ or โAllah ne Ya ฦaddara.โ Faith is important, but Islam also teaches us to take action and seek justice.
