These include academies not being fully integrated with local authority services, the “schoolification” of early years, low income families missing out and, with this scheme only funding refurbishment rather than staff overheads, cost pressures in schools limiting provision.

Spoiler alert - turns out the Government really isn’t investing in public nurseries!

What do SENCos feel is the most important thing to be #schoolready ? What is missing from our current system of early years support to ensure this? Or let’s turn it around - What do our schools need in order to be ready to ensure support and inclusivity for ALL children?

What is the purpose of this new definition? …It has been developed by nursery chains and the academy lobby…Is it to help academies have a tick list of which children with different learning needs to exclude? A marketing tool for the early years industry to scare parents with?
It has been great to see experts across the #EarlyYears sector coming together to work on a single, shared definition of what being #ReadyForSchool means. Great information & great support resources – a demonstration that we are stronger together! startingreception.co.uk

This thoughtless cut will undoubtably undermine support for children with different learning needs. @Leedscouncil1 Leeds council should think again if it cares at all about inclusion! #SaveOurNurseries

We heard the council’s proposals use other neighbouring boroughs lack as a reason they shouldn’t bother protecting affordable high quality council-run nurseries. We say look at the harm - look at the cost of private provision - and instead aim high! Prioritise the youngest.

Only 27% of nurseries report enough spaces for children with SEND @Dingley Universal accessible childcare is vital to enable early identification of different learning needs - these quality nurseries are accessible and have staggered fees! Save them!

So many promises were made by @carowoodley @mayorofhackney @hackneycouncil the last time we campaigned against closures in 2021. EMPTY PROMISES. They underestimated us and the strength of public opposition last time and it seems they are doing it again.

In 2018 when the Mayor closed our council nurseries we warned of the impact - the lack of accessibility & cost of private provision. He refused to listen & Tower Hamlets failed it’s Ofsted #SEND inspection in 2021 due to gaps in early support for 0-5s. Think again @carowoodley
