#RecordOfTheWeek are some Hair Ice Crust (Exidiopsis effusa) records, including this example spotted by Theresa Heal in Cwmfelinfach. This amazing fungus causes a distinctive ice formation in suitable weather conditions. Thanks to all who recorded the species during the cold snap

The SEWBReC #SpeciesOfTheMonth for January is Tawny Owl (Strix aluco), which can be particularly vocal at this time of year. Have you heard its distinctive twit-twoo call in your local area? sewbrec.org.uk/species-otm/s…

We're a week into #RecordEveryDayJanuary already! Have you managed to keep up? There's still time to get involved - just submit a record of a plant, animal or fungi you have seen on each day in January. Submit 31 consecutive wildlife records by 3rd Feb to be included in the draw.

Top tip: regular garden birds are a good gap filler if you are starting a few days late!

Our #RecordOfTheWeek today is a major milestone - our 7 millionth record was uploaded to Aderyn this week! A large upload from eBird took us over the line, so we've picked a festive Robin as a representative record. 🎄Many thanks and Merry Christmas to all our recorders! 🎄

It was great to spend this morning upgrading the SEWBReC office yard with raised beds of native plants, kindly provided by @Keep_Wales_Tidy through their Local Places for Nature grant scheme. Looking forward to recording lots of new garden wildlife in 2025! Many thanks @KWT_RCT
