It was a treat to show off our SHSU Huntsville campus to University of Houston Downtown Interim President Deborah Bordelon this week. Our campus is beautiful even on rainy days! @UHDOfficial

Visited these front line professionals at our Student Health Center & was reminded of the importance of our staff who welcome & help our students all over campus. They set the tone!

I love seeing the excitement of our Orientation Leaders as they guide and prepare future Bearkats. For many of these student leaders, the journey began when they attended orientation themselves and experienced firsthand the difference an orientation leader can make.

There is something special about the beginning of a Bearkat journey. From making new friends to discovering campus resources and finding their place in our community, Orientation is where confidence begins to grow and lifelong connections take root.

A few weeks, I met Alumni Board Member David Whittington ('90) and his daughters. It was special to see three generations of Bearkat pride in one family. From left: Lindsey Blunt ('22), Abbey Whittington (Class of 2027), David Whittington ('90), and Hannah Whittington ('23).

Our campus is one of the most gorgeous, idyllic places to live and learn. Summer may be a little slower, but exceptional instructional opportunities and research activities continue year around. #LuckyMe

I love this portrait of Sam Houston that hangs outside my office. In a letter he wrote to his son, he said “Knowledge is the food of genius, and my son, let no opportunity escape you to treasure up knowledge.” Good advice, sir. Good advice.

Today we honor those who gave their lives in service to our country. I am grateful they chose to serve. I honor their ultimate sacrifice and pray for comfort for their families who miss them everyday. #MemorialDay

My son’s family thrilled me with this card yesterday because I used to read the Mama Llama books to all the kids in our family. They remembered! My son also remembered the other favorite books we read every night when he was a kid. Reading matters! #MamaLlamaRedPajama

Tonight’s all-choir concert was a wonderful mix of voices & styles. Cool to see so many music faculty supporting their colleagues and students cheering on their friends. I’ve watched some of these students perform for 4 years & will be honored to see them at commencement!
