SHS Chess had a great performance at the state tournament finishing with a 4-3 record. In the last round we upset higher seeded Lemont to get the last win of the day. Final standings:

Follow the SHS chess team as they compete at the IHSA state tournament this weekend. After 2 rounds we are 1-1 with a loss to #9 ranked Evanston and a win over Washington.

The SHS Chess Team is headed back to the State Tournament after surviving the sectional at kaneland high school among 21 other schools. The competition will take place Feb 13th and 14th at the Peoria civic center

Great day for SHS Chess at the NICL Conference tournament. 8 medalists JV tournament champions! Our varsity team went 2-2 but the 2 losses were hard fought and close on the scoreboard. Next up, Sectionals as we try and earn another trip to the state tournament.

SHS Chess has won 5 out of their last 7 matches. Latest win vs. Rock Falls 56-12. They also went 2-2 at a Bolingbrook tournament in a field of 30 teams from across the State.

We celebrated the players of the 2024-25 season at the SHS chess awards night. Great turnout from past, present and future players. Thank you to seniors Kinnick Kyarsgaard, Aiden Forth and Martin Fisher. Martin has played since 5th grade and Aiden since 6th.

6th grade 8th out of 45 teams
7th grade 26th out of 54 teams
8th grade 10th out of 59 teams.

SHS Chess went to Naperville Central to compete with some of the best teams in the State. Best performance of the day was from 7th board Kinnick Kyarsgaard who went undefeated with 3 wins and 1 draw. Assistant coach Tyler Hansen won 2nd place in the adult open.
