Massive choke job by the Spurs in the NBW Finals . The stadium filled with Knicks fans. Super embarrassing for San Antonio across the board. Wemby disappeared when they needed him. Feels like deja vu!!!

Wemby needs to do some soul searching. In the 4th he seemed to be watching rather than playing basketball. Zero fight in him under the rim. Horrible basketball. Congrats to the Knicks!

I love custom golf gear and it doesn’t get much better than this. NGLA custom windmill headcovers by Dormie Golf. No I don’t own one, but these are a work of art. #NonGolfHistory

I would probably buy a the same judge Texas Tech bought. Don’t sue me Texas Tech- that’s only a joke- kind of like your integrity!
If you were a trillionaire, what would you buy?

The best thing about my golf travels is going to places I have never visited. On this trip I fell in love with the town of @PittsfordTown. What a beautiful town draped in historical buildings. A place where you visit and never want to leave. It was like walking in a Norman Rockwell painting. #NonGolfHistory

What did @TexasTech do by skirting the rules that even they agreed to? They managed to become the most hated football program and dare I say university in the country- hunkering down into a us vs them mentality of self justification. I never think of Texas Tech, they have been irrelevant for my entire life but somehow by hunkering down with lawyers and threats built upon the shoulders of a billionaire they found the spotlight. This entire affair is sad. It is the type of crap that made MLB ban the Black Sox when their owner covered up their betting on games (sound familiar). To the Tech fans, I get it you think you found your savior, your one chance at a Natty and he turned out to be “Nick the Greek.” This story isn’t Shoeless Joe Jackson possibly being innocent - their QB 1 admittedly did it. Tech claims to care - but they care about winning football games. I get it from the football coach and even the AD but the President of the University needs to see the bigger picture. This is bigger than football this is a story of a loss of integrity, not for a football program because that would be expected- it’s a story of the University selling theirs for $5M. Cancel playing them - let the Texas AD come after you - the appeals process will be after the season and you will do what that judge should have done- stripped him of his eligibility. Show them what true integrity is - back it with your own sacrifice and say no to this horrible sell out. @NCAA @espn @Big12Conference @SEC @bigten
I watched the Texas Tech video and wrote about AD Kirby Hocutt's pushback against criticism, the conditions of Brendan Sorsby's return and the school's support for him. "There's no reason whatsoever to question the integrity of our athletics department." espn.com/college-football/st…

A special thank you to Oak Hill CC, its membership and to the members of the Society of Golf Historians who were able to join us at our first Society Summer Outing at Oak Hill CC. There is so much to say - first and foremost Oak Hill is truly the beauty and the beast. It’s design truly proves my point that golf course architecture is a form of artwork- this Donald Ross design and @GreenGCA restoration is a beauty to behold. However under that veil of beauty, lies the beast. You are tantalized in the wonderment of its charms, but if your ball wanders, as golf balls tend to do, the beast will remind you that this beauty can bite. I was fortunate to play my round with the newly appointed club historian, Kevin Horey, who later that evening gave our group a wonderful presentation on Oak Hill’s history. My friend @AndrewRickard15 then interviewed Oak Hill’s former club historian, Fred Beltz (who appeared on Episode 102 & 103 of the @talkingolf history podcast: The History & Restoration of Oak Hill) about some of his favorite experiences and memories of the club. Finally @JohnMorton215 and I closed the evening with a talk on our golf collections and some amusing stories behind the history of those relics (some stories you will never ever hear on my podcast). I couldn’t have asked for a better event- again thank you to Andrew, Kevin, Fred and the amazing staff at Oak Hill for making this a success! @DonaldRossSocie @OakHillCC

I also might add that of all the golf club’s I have visited, the amount of space that Oak Hill has dedicated in their clubhouse to the preservation of their history is absolutely wonderful!!! A staggering amount of square footage has been set aside so that they may continue to preserve the club’s wonderful 125 year history. I was taken away by it- it made me so happy!

I would join Cypress Point but I would also need to join 13 other clubs first.
If you added a 15th club, what would it be?

The SOCIETY SUMMER OUTING KICKS OFF TOMORROW. Played the West Course today and Ross’ original greens are insane! So much fun to play - great land movement especially the 9th and the 15th holes. Can’t wait to play the East Tomorrow. @JohnMorton215 & I will close out the event tomorrow evening after we get two different presentations by Oak Hill.

We are hoping to host 2-3 outings a year going forward. We will look to make Belleair CC in February a permanent national meeting- (this February playing both the West and what will be the newly renovated East Course). Then a Summer and possible Fall outing where we will share the history of the host course/club with our golfers. We are so thrilled to have our first Summer Outing take place at Historic Oak Hill CC. #GolfHistory

Texas Tech doubling down is the most Texas Tech thing in history, If it was Texas or Texas A&M all these idiot fans and admin would go crazy. But here we are - they are insulated by their own greed- they are digging in and trying to talk down the fact that their QB1 broke the #1 rule in all of sports- YOU DONT GAMBLE ON YOUR SPORT AND YOU DONT GAMBLE ON YOUR OWN TEAM. Dig in Tech because this makes your university look horrid. PS one of @TexasTech’s founding principles is INTEGRITY. Well that’s out @NCAA

They do gamble and when they get caught they lose their scholarships and eligibility just ask the athletes of the University of Iowa and Iowa State. Both of those schools did the right things and ACCEPTED IT.
I genuinely don’t see the problem. I’m sorry… I just don’t. I do see where gambling IS a MAJOR problem - so much so that like…. You’re being naive if you don’t think there are athletes at your school or on your pro teams who are actively gambling. Like, I understand addiction VERY well and I don’t think people realize how much money is being spent or how many people are going down this path… we have a MAJOR mental health crisis looming bc people can gamble from their fucking phones. Families, careers, and life savings are going to be destroyed within a few years and people are not talking about that enough. 67% of college students are high frequency bettors. 16% engage in the highest risk gambling. So, I do think it is irresponsible for the NCAA to set this precedent where a student athlete seeks treatment and transfers to a state where sports gambling is NOT legal. It’s the classic criminalization and punishment over concern for mental health and well-being. The owner of a freakin NBA team quite literally made her fortune off of gambling. Is it ok for an NBA owner to profit off of an upset loss of her own team? If yes, them there should be no problem with a kid gambling and then seeking treatment I just think it’s really wild to ignore the public health crisis that we are facing, but not preparing for while simultaneously acting like Texas fkn Tech and Brandon Sorsby are the problem. It’s happening ACROSS college sports.

We interviewed Al Geiberger on the @talkingolf history podcast a couple seasons ago. I can honestly say he was one of the nicest people I have ever met. We held the interview in the Board Room of La Quinta CC in California and afterward he spent quite a bit of time talking to their committee members. His telling of that miraculous round still sticks in my head- with “coachie” talking him through it in his head. The first 59 was the hardest - if you ever see someone try to rank the best sub 60 rounds- if that list doesn’t start with Al’s round, throw it out because they don’t know what they are writing about. #GolfHistory
