“I didn't need to be back in F1. But I felt like at the same time I didn't want to leave the sport the way I left it. Because I believe myself that I'm one of the top drivers here. And coming back makes me realise that I'm one of the top drivers.” the-race.com/formula-1/why-p…

Wet arrival early on Sunday morning in Miami. Lots of thunder and lightning (more than I’ve seen in my sheltered life and a lot closer too!).

So much analysis and big declarations about what Mercedes are up to with their front wing after China and it turns out (according to team and FIA) it was a problem not a rules exploitation: the-race.com/formula-1/myste…

🔧 Honda's introducing more F1 engine reliability countermeasures at the #JapaneseGP this weekend... ...and a more permanent fix for it and Aston Martin to work with might not be too far off either ➡️ the-race.com/formula-1/more-… the-race.com/formula-1/more-…

Exactly what we didn't want to see with these starts. Outstanding reaction from Colapinto.

Newey said Aston Martin only discovered last November that many of Honda’s F1 engineers had been reassigned after 2021 and hadn’t returned. How? It was known back in 2023 that Honda’s engine project wouldn’t be the same as before. Something is amiss there. the-race.com/formula-1/adria…

Many teams will be unhappy. Big set-up and energy management implications. I don’t know how legitimate the safety concern is. Do fear it means the neutered approach to corners like Turn 9 will be even worse now with a long straight at higher drag to account for.
#F1 teams face major curveball at Australian GP as FIA scraps the Straight Mode zone before Turn 9. No active aero there means huge impact on drag levels, energy deployment and ride heights.

The FIA admits it is erring on the side of caution, and this is a draconian measure. Imagine if you’re a team that had wing levels and car balance that could tolerate maximum drag benefit. Then it changes because others can’t do it as well as you. FP3 will be interesting.

Overturned after teams pushed back…what a silly situation. As you were.

Tough resumption of testing for Aston Martin which managed just 28 laps this morning and had only completed seven when Lance Stroll suffered a strange rear locking that ended with the car in the gravel. That car was behaving and sounding odd dynamically last week already.

Aston Martin expected to be behind here but it is worse than expected. Some insight into why that is - timing of Newey arrival and Honda’s time in the wilderness (as previously reported) a factor - where the weaknesses are and Newey role in fixing it: the-race.com/formula-1/why-a…
