Two things I was not prepared for on the tenure track: the amount of meetings, & the amount of emails requesting meetings, interviews, advice, pick my brain, service requests, etc. That university credential made me visible in a way that I just wasn’t prepared for.

So universities make research professors pay for their entire salary & research through grant funding, but then the university also takes a cut of your grant funding? Seems like you’d have to always apply for grants, so when do you do research? Is this why you’re all kinda grumpy
