Bonehead question of the day. If you restored a DB to an AWS RDS MSSQL instance (test) and accidently delete the admin login from that database. Is there any hope of getting access back to that database or is it a nuke the RDS moment? #AWS #SQLHelp #YesitsTest

We have a solution!
If you reset\change the password on the Admin user in RDS AWS console, it re-associates with all of the user databases on the RDS instance.

Once again defending my db systems honor and innocence. Is there any script, tool, log, etc that can tell me if a query attempted and failed to execute successfully against my SQL Server database? #sqlHelp

Context: Application tanked hard this afternoon, App team claims the DB isn't responding but I can verify session connection, tested user login creds, executed in SSMS SPs as user would through application. ms return times...I'm at a loss and on edge.

So today my alma mater, officially announced it's merger with two other schools in Western PA. The new name for the university, that combined three schools with over 300 combined years of existence. Pennsylvania Western University or PennWest. My school is now a utility company.

Just want to rant here for a second...
This is what I am spending my evening trying to solve, because a decision to use a product that supposedly can't handle calling stored procedures and wants views.
Stored Procedure returns cleanly in seconds by the way....

I was today years old when... I realized I was actually an accidental network and server admin, and responsible for doing everyone else's job!!!

Is it possible for a server to have an "identity" crisis?
I have a server that is refusing to acknowledge it's membership in a WSFC from one node and is successfully acknowledging memberships from two other nodes.
This is driving me nuts!

Is it safe to assume Developer and Enterprise edition are the same when it comes to patch \ update testing for SQL Server? Can we safely assume that if we setup an AG using Dev edition and apply the services packs\updates\etc it will behave similarly to EE? #sqlhelp

Can a SQL Server Availability Group be extended (async) from an on-prem WSFC configuration to include a Linux based SQL Server instance on AWS EC2? Trying to extend our on-prem clusters to the cloud for read-only workloads. #sqlhelp
