Michigan State University men’s tennis took down Purdue, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon to win its first Big Ten Conference Championship since 1967. MSU finished the regular season 11-1 in conference play, alongside Ohio State, sharing the conference title with the Buckeyes.

The Michigan State baseball team fell to Oakland, 11-9, despite a late rally. Sophomore centerfielder Khamaree Thomas recorded 3 RBIs, two of which occurred in the seventh inning. Next up the Spartans will head to Grand Rapids to face off against the Western Michigan Broncos.

MSU baseball avoided a sweep from rival Michigan behind a powerful 10-5 victory. The Spartans had 3 home runs off 3 separate bats resulting in 7 of their total runs, and junior pitcher Logan Pikur picked up his first win of the season.

The Michigan State baseball team, after dropping the first two games of the weekend, needed a positive result against the visitors from the University of Michigan. The Spartans recovered in a dominant 10-5 victory over the Wolverines.

Michigan State women’s tennis welcomed Maryland to East Lansing for its senior celebrations. The Terrapins took an early lead winning the doubles and later the singles as well. The Spartans were unable to keep up and ended the day with a loss, 4-1.

A four goal first half from MSU solidified a 5-1 dominant win over Grand Valley, clinching the Michigan Spring Cup championship. This was the Spartan women’s soccer team’s last scheduled spring game as they head into the summer break having gone 4-0 in the spring season.

A pitching duel in East Lansing would finish with a 4-2 win for Michigan baseball over MSU. Grad catcher Noah Bright got the Spartans on the board in the 5th with a solo shot to left. A solo home run in the 7th and a two run 8th inning for the Wolverines was enough for the win.

Despite the stormy weather, MSU women’s soccer had an opportunity to grow on Saturday evening. The Spartans hosted Bowling Green at the Spartan Greens, and MSU earned a 2-1 win over the Falcons with a complete performance.

MSU women’s soccer wrapped up its spring exhibitions with a 2-1 win over Bowling Green. The two goals came from senior forward Kennedy Bell and sophomore defender Addison Baldus. The Spartans finish out the spring season next Saturday with the Spring Cup Final.

Following a shutout game one of a doubleheader against Illinois, Michigan State softball stumbled in game two. A 7-run first inning from Illinois was too much to overcome and MSU ultimately fell 12-6. A rubber game on Sunday will determine who takes the series.

MSU baseball looked to clinch its weekend series against Purdue yesterday, however an explosive third inning from the Boilermakers which earned them six runs made it a tough game for the Spartans to recover, with a final of 11-4, Purdue. Amanda Orlando has more.

A six run 3rd inning for Purdue was too much for the Spartans to overcome in an 11-4 loss. MSU baseball combined to leave eight runners on base. The Green and White have a quick turnaround, welcoming in Central Michigan on Tuesday.
