You don’t buy Double Fine, Ninja Theory, or Compulsion to make commercial hits - that was never their role, and their proposed closures represents a shameful blunder
Replying to @Andy_VGC
Is Swan totally wrong? So many in games media trashed or called these games underwhelming at launch and created negative hype. They didn’t even sell well on PlayStation or Switch. A lot of people like myself love hyping up these games but can’t get them to support or buy them all the time. It’s a sad reality of gaming. Sony has been closing studios left and right, same with Ubisoft and others. I really wonder how the industry would look now if COVID never hit, because it does feel like it messed up everything again.

Honestly, and I mean this, so glad that we have Nintendo. I only buy mainline games from them but I'm glad they publish weird little spinoffs and fun games. I had no interest in Mario & Luigi: Brothership or Princess Peach: Showtime! but I'm glad they exist!

Maybe I should give something like the Yoshi games another shot. Getting attached to smaller games from Xbox or PlayStation sucks. I'm fiending for titles from JapanStudio and I'm worried Double-Fine will end like they did...

Yeahhhh I was feeling the Xbox hype a bit after Keigh3 season this year, but this confirmation will keep me away. I don't need to go back to a platform where I'm constantly wondering what idiotic decision and corporate double-speak I'll be hit with next.
Xbox is closing down Hellblade creator Ninja Theory. Compulsion Games and Double Fine are also in “active negotiations” about spinning off theverge.com/games/950204/xb…

If Microsoft really does try to close Double-Fine that will be a huge, HUGE loss for video games. Sure, I'm not interested in Kiln, but the fact that their team is free to run small passion projects between major studio efforts is a major part of their success.

On one hand, I'd love to buy Xbox games and remain in the ecosystem, but on the other I'm just so enamored with the flexibility of how I can access my Steam library from so many platforms. If Xbox had a disc-to-digital program like Xbox One was supposed to I'd still be there.

I've been using GameHub and GameNative to play lighter indie titles from some low powered Android handhelds I have around and it's unbeatable. The fact that most of my Steam library can now be accessed on Windows, Linux, Mac, and even Android is something I'll never get over.

Sure, I'll still need to keep at least one Windows boot around for some anti-cheat games like Marathon, Destiny, or Fortnite, but having everything else be just so open is wild. If I don't feel like holding a heavier Ally X I can swap to a Retroid NATIVELY. That's true power.

Foku. This deal should be prevented solely because of the terrible portmanteau.
Fox is buying Roku in a $22 billion deal.

Now that WuWa has thrown off my gaming plans I'm hoping to finish the collab then get back on schedule for the rest of 2026. Goal is to replay Alan Wake and Alan Wake 2 before CONTROL Resonant. Then FFVII base game, Crisis Core, REMAKE, and REBIRTH before REVELATION next year!

That's more then enough gaming to keep me busy until next Spring. Breaks will likely be filled with continued progress in FFXIV, a bit of Forza Horizon 6 progress, and maybe replaying Persona 4 Golden before Revival drops? Probably won't finish that in time...

I started Wuthering Waves just for the Edgerunners collaboration but I've been seriously impressed with the game as a whole. I'll probably keep playing to go through the whole story. If they are hitting this type of polish on a crossover event I'm excited to see the base game!

Dragons Crown, 13 Sentinels, and Unicorn Overlord on PC would be STUPID EASY MONEY. I'd be all over those again! Especially consider how these would be perfect Steam Deck titles following their Vita/Switch successes.

Vanillaware founder George Kamitani - wants to put their other games on PC (Unicorn Overlord, 13 Sentinels, Dragon's Crown, etc.) but says it's up to the publisher to finance the ports
