Question: When you talk about too many immigrants here, when did you guys decide that number? Why did you sell us a dream? You made us spend our youth, our wealth in this country and gave us a dream. You don't owe us anything. We have worked hard for it. How can you as a vice president stand there and say that we have too many of them now and we are going to take them out to people who are here rightfully so by paying the money that you guys asked us? This doctor shared her payslip to show the stark reality NHS doctors face. Fully qualified. Working exhausting 48 hour weeks: nights, evenings, weekends. Regularly uprooted from family, friends and support networks. All to earn just £17.56 an hour. That’s 21% less in real terms than doctors earned in 2008, even though workloads and pressures have only increased. Doctors also now earn nearly £10,000 less than physician assistants; despite having more training, greater responsibility, and higher risk. Doctors are exhausted, demoralised, and leaving the NHS. They’ve had enough. They’re simply asking to move from £17.56/hr to £22.67/hr; and not even all at once @wesstreeting. To protect the NHS, we need to retain and value the doctors who work in it.

The same doctors that we applauded for during the pandemic? The same doctors working above their contracted hours to save lives? The same doctors being paid 20% less in real terms than they were in 2008? Stop demonising doctors and start fixing their pay.
