Loving the addition of our ‘currently reading’ boards to our display! Now, anyone who comes in our classroom, as well as other pupils in the class, can see what books we are enjoying! 📚✨
(I can’t remember who these were originally from so please shout me if it was you!)
We're always trying to create a buzz about reading so have a corridor display which features books published over the next couple of months. Children and staff can put sticky notes on certain books explaining why they're so excited about reading them.
When you ask people about the books that changed their lives - the ones that really made a massive impact, and have never been forgotten - they will almost always talk about children's books. That's why I think children's books are the most important books of all.
Year 5 #booknic. 14 classes enjoyed a booknic last week. Fantastic idea that will definitely be repeated. Year 5 reading river in the woods. @OpenUni_RfP@TeresaCremin
Still pinching myself that my example of practice is in the @OpenUni_RfP newsletter - this was the best CPD & I highly recommend you join a #ReadingforPleasure group next year. Other commitments mean I can’t co-lead a group again next year but I loved it.

Each child had to complete an extended reading project which included not only a presentation to the class, but a creative aspect too. This was one child’s contribution and I was SO impressed 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
THREAD
So, we all wonder how we're going to keep children reading over summer when they're not in school and there are lots of summer reading challenges, which look great, but we've made our own focusing on diverse and inclusive texts from Reception up to Year 11.
250 staff & students voted for the books they’d like to see in their playground mural (such a shame we couldn’t include ALL their choices!!). Who would make it onto the wall at your school or library?

Every child deserves to have access to a library space in their primary school - they are so valuable, which is why @CressidaCowell is fighting for them with her #LifechangingLibraries campaign!
