Congrats to Jeff Kent, second in career WAR among players who hit walkoff home runs in the 2004 NLCS, on his election to the Hall of Fame

I’m sure they’ll reallocate that salary, for sure

The Cardinals have let loose several guys in the last decade where certainly in hindsight you would say it was a mistake, but so many of those guys have had WEIRD careers
News: OF Adolis Garcia is being non-tendered by the Rangers, sources tell ESPN. After hitting .227 with 19 home runs and a .665 OPS, the 32 year-old is set to become a free agent. Had a 1.108 OPS in the '23 postseason.

I scrolled through literally thousands of @2xbirds media tweets looking for the Joe Maddon as The Baseball Crank image and couldn’t find it so apologies if that was actually somebody else

"I'm using the word insulting only from the perspective that it appears as though you don't have to have any professional experience to do this job anymore... Having said that, I wish him nothing but the best." Joe Maddon on the unprecedented hiring of Tony Vitello via @knbrmurph & @MarkusBoucher

Tommy Edman, when a Cardinal, walked up to the plate to “Feeling Good” by Nina Simone, but because Ohtani walks up to an inferior version of that song, he doesn’t get to use it anymore. This should be part of the Cardinals’ free agency pitches

In the time since this was posted, Ohtani made it three home runs on his night and the Bob Gibson game got as much attention as it had gotten at any point in the last 58 years. Honestly very cool and good stuff all around.
Poking holes in what Shohei Ohtani is doing and what he does more regularly than anyone in history is a fool’s errand, but Bob Gibson once hit a home run and struck out ten in a Game 7 World Series complete game and that deserves to be remembered

Yadi always got the headline rumors but Pujols seems like a *much* safer managerial hire for an MLB team. Hope he gets the Angels gig if he wants it.

Whatever they’re paying Francona he’s worth it

Even ignoring the value of walks, Michael Busch would’ve had a single, double, triple, and home run yesterday if you switched one of his homers to a single. And that’s…better, right? Had he batted and tried stretching a single to a double and was thrown out, is that good?
