Leaders Fabiano Caruana and Vincent Keymer drew their game, and remain tied for first place on 5/8. The winner of the day was Javokhir Sindarov, who defeated Jorden van Foreest with the black pieces to move to 4.5/8, just half a point behind the leaders. Wesley So also reached 4.5/8 after receiving a forfeit point following the withdrawal of Alireza Firouzja. Bogdan-Daniel Deac scored an important win over Anish Giri, while Praggnanandhaa R and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave drew their game. Going into the final round, Caruana and Keymer share the lead on 5/8, with Sindarov, Wesley So, and van Foreest close behind on 4.5/8. #grandchesstour

Javokhir Sindarov on his game vs. Jorden van Foreest: “I know this exact position! I remember the game between Garry Kasparov and Judit Polgár, where Kasparov had rook and knight, and he checkmated. I know how to checkmate here when the white king is on g1 or h1. If the knight comes to e3 and the Black king gets to g3, even without pawns, it’s always winning.” He was referring to the 1996 game between Garry Kasparov and Judit Polgár, where Kasparov converted the rook-and-knight vs. rook endgame successfully.
