It was great to be back in Pennsylvania to join workers from across the state for the @PAAFL_CIO convention today. If we stand in solidarity together, working people can come out on top and create a future and economy that works for all of us, not just the rich and powerful.

When Black journalists are criminalized for documenting protest, the real target is the possibility of multiracial worker power. We stand with Black workers and Black journalists in their right to dissent, to document, and to demand a better future. blackpressusa.com/op-ed-one-…

Rev. Jesse Jackson was a towering moral force whose lifelong commitment to justice reshaped both the labor and civil rights movements. He led boycotts and campaigns that secured thousands of new jobs for Black workers. May he rest in power. blackpressusa.com/afl-cio-re…

Rev. Jesse Jackson brought communities together with a simple, powerful truth: the fight for good jobs, living wages and union rights is inseparable from the fight for justice and equality. Watch AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer @STRedmond reflect on Rev. Jesse Jackson’s legacy:

A strong democracy gives us space to thrive. When it’s weakened, workers pay the price. The right to vote is how we make our voices heard, and America’s unions will keep fighting to protect our voices, our democracy and the rules that keep it fair. blackpressusa.com/the-voting…

Since the ACA passed, the number of Black folks without health insurance has been cut in half, largely thanks to its tax credits. If they aren’t extended, those gains could be erased. A spike in health care costs isn’t just smoke—it’s a five-alarm fire. blackpressusa.com/blackameri…

After race-based discrimination in the federal government was banned in the 1940s, those jobs became a place where Black Americans could reliably get good benefits. Trump’s attacks on the federal workforce threatens decades of progress for Black workers. blackpressusa.com/trumps-att…

We lost a true champion of our labor movement yesterday. My @Steelworkers union brother Leo Gerard relentlessly fought for all working people and to reverse decades of inequality across this country. I’ll deeply miss you, Brother Leo. Rest in power. aflcio.org/press/releases/af…

It was an honor to help close out the @AFLCIO’s Western Regional Convening this week. In Phoenix, America’s unions came together to strategize and build an even stronger labor movement so we can put power back in the hands of working people. Together in solidarity, we will win!

The labor movement grieves all those who were killed in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001—including more than 600 members of our union family—and urges leaders to take the necessary steps so first responders and survivors can continue to heal. aflcio.org/press/releases/af…

It was great to join @CentralLaborNYC for the New York City Labor Day parade, where America’s unions and working families marched for our freedom, fairness and security. Nothing is more powerful than working people standing together in solidarity. When we fight, we win!

President Trump famously promised that he would protect “Black jobs.” But like many of his promises, it was an empty one. Black unemployment is nearly double the national rate. Trump’s economy works for billionaires, but it’s a disaster for everyone else. blackpressusa.com/trumpleadi…
