We have been very quiet recently, but excited to report that we have been meeting with colleagues in Hull, Sheffield, London & Australia to discuss research findings and developing training resources to support homecare workers at end-of-life. #socialcare

Really important resources - please share widely. HCWs recruited overseas can be at significant risk of exploitation
(1/4) Great to see evidence of innovation designed to support overseas care workers. Individuals who have come to the UK via the Health & Care Worker Visa scheme are at risk of exploitation by unscrupulous employers: homecarewg.org/modernslavery #socialcare #careworkervisa #carework

New paper from our SUPPORTED study of homecare at end-of-life. Findings from a rapid review of homecare @ EOL. Key findings - HCWs provide support in complex situations & emotionally demanding situations, yet can be isolated and under-valued within the wider care team #socialcare

Homecare workers - do you work 'in a bubble' & with only a 'breadcrumb trail' of notes and information to connect you to colleagues? See below for information about @RachelKelso12's work to bring together homecare workers for support & to get a place at the policy table ⬇️
If you know any care workers, please tell them about Homecare Workers' Group. On sign up, you can select what type of care work you do - current focus is obvs domiciliary, but welcome to all. Can also join if you're no longer a care worker but might reconsider if things improve.

So good to hear about the important work you are doing to bring the voice of homecare workers to debates on social care delivery and policy ☺️
Join this care worker on an unexpected trip... to parliament! @unisontheunion - thanks so much for inviting me along to the parliamentary briefing about proposals for a National Care Service. #homecare #domiciliarycare #socialcare #communitycare #communitycareworker #carework

This is a powerful demonstration of the importance #homecare. We are researching experiences of homecare workers at end of life (& this really resonates!). If you are a homecare worker providing EOL care in #Hull #Bradford or #Bromley do get in touch at HCW-SUPPORTED@hull.ac.uk
Come with me to see what it's like being a homecare worker on a Saturday morning shift. Would love to give more insight into the many varied things we get up to alongside those who draw on support, but here are the rushed in between bits I can show, which are just as important

Thanks for sharing @RachelKelso12 This shows so well the challenges and pressures of the homecare role, and highlights the value of the care and support provided (practical, social and emotional).
