Finally back to the field this week! Nothing calms the nerves like some soil sampling and field prep! Even had some moisture too! @CSUAgSci

Learning about 3D printing applications for agriculture.
Finished planting our dry bean trial in Fruita today. This is a multi-loc trial looking at the interaction of broad spectrum seed treatments and inoculation methods. Thanks to the Colorado Dry Bean Administrative Committee for providing generous funding support for our research!

Canola stems for days! Counting stems and rating winter survival and vigor. Good thing I'm not allergic to bees, but they don't seem to mind me! ๐Ÿ˜Ž @ Southwestern Colorado Research Center instagram.com/p/ByimRB9lfx4/โ€ฆ

Good weather makes for a busy week! Finished planting our bulk crop areas with wheat, planted more plots, finished fertilizing plots and turned on our irrigation. More work on side rolls not pictured. ๐Ÿ˜‰ instagram.com/p/Bya9idKFAzv/โ€ฆ
Teamwork made moving a side roll up hill easy, but the tall alfalfa made it a work out! Broken torque tube problems! @ Southwestern Colorado Research Center instagram.com/p/ByJNmGaFF0S/โ€ฆ

We finished moving our "new to us" side roll to the research center! Now we just have to put it all back together! When do those interns start? ๐Ÿ˜‰ @ Southwestern Colorado Research Center instagram.com/p/BwU2rXzhJ83/โ€ฆ

Moving a sideroll up the road 20 miles to the research center. Thankful for a wet winter that has delayed us!!

Alfalfa is an amazing plant with its ability to withstand water shortages. Pictures taken yesterday of alfalfa being evaluated for stand count, yield and quality under foregone diversion scenarios such as stopping irrigation after 2nd cut and waiting after 1st cut to irrigate.

Could not be happier with the work of Senior Research Technician Kevin Gobbo and his work to re-purpose an unused McCrometer flow meter, joined to our existing 12" irrigation water main with two IPEX bolted repair couplers. The WCRC-Fruita now tracks water diversions completely.
