This is as good a time as any to remind us all that this is what landlording is. Pure wealth extraction and transfer to people lucky enough to have money from people who work for a living.

So everyone didn’t get the memo huh? They’re purposely making blue states unaffordable so that deep blue voters are priced out move to blue dot cities in red states where their vote is diluted. The housing crisis is a manufactured political strategy to reshape the electorate.

🚨 @housingrightsUS has filed discrimination complaints against 200 CA landlords, alleging they illegally refused to rent to #Section8 voucher holders. This is an infuriating look into widespread violations of tenants’ rights. For more: latimes.com/california/story…

I spent the last month combing through local news for @theappeal to find the cities passing anti-homelessness camping bans since the Supreme Court’s landmark Grants Pass ruling. What I found is a post-Grants Pass landscape where a new ban is being passed at least every other day

In the two months since the SCOTUS decision in Grants Pass, an Appeal analysis finds that dozens of municipalities have passed or proposed new laws levying fines, tickets, or even jail time against the unhoused. @thomasbirm has the story: theappeal.org/supreme-court-…

POLL: 73% of battleground voters support rent caps. The rent is too damn high. The solution to rent gouging? Rent caps. This is the only solution that meets the scale and severity of the crisis tenants endure every month. politi.co/4cnHHNj

I met many homeless people in Grants Pass—with jobs that didn’t add up to rent, with disabilities or such trauma they couldn’t work. I know the faces of the people the Supreme Court just said should be in jail for sleeping outside. Now every city can do the same.
I went to Grants Pass, Oregon, a town of 40,000 people that’s about to re-write homelessness policy for the entire United States. I found a perfect encapsulation of our national crisis. newrepublic.com/article/1810…

Our latest settlement is a message to all landlords and housing providers in California: Threatening tenants with deportation won’t be tolerated! We just helped a family in Oxnard reach a $30,000 settlement after their landlord allegedly threatened to call ICE & evict them. (1/3)
