Considering the gameβs current balance cycle has largely been to improve mobility in characters as a way to buff them, and reworking/introducing new ways for teams to close distances quickly; long range engagements and the ability to be consistent in them matters less and less.
Your ability to get picks at long range arent impactful enough with more ways to disengage and more perks to get back on your feet and reset.
Games are won up close, when the ring forces you together, when you drop all your abilities to burst through healthbars and defenses, thats when aim assist wins and is consistent to a level that MnK has to train 10 times as hard just to stay relevant.
That said, at my absolute peak in Apex playing pred ranked and scrimming I never cared about AA, I just took smarter fights. But calling it balanced in any form is some INSANE cope to avoid putting in work on the issue.
Apex Legends Devs on Aim-Assist Issue
β’ Current aim-assist is fair for competitive play
β’ M&K is better for long-range, and controllers are stronger in close combat
β’ No single adjustment will fix everything.
