To all of you New Yorkers, the New York Knicks are worth $10 billion dollars. If we dissolved the franchise we could use that money to end world hunger. Stop celebrating greed.

John Cornyn is a 72-year-old man who has lived a charmed life that 99.99% of the humans in all of history haven’t lived, including many kings. And yet he’s literally crashing out like an emo teen on Twitter and acting like he’s been betrayed when he’s done all the betraying. Safe to say that voters made the right choice here. Not only will Paxton vote as Texans want him to but he’ll be a professional public servant in the process. Cornyn would’ve lost to both Talarico and Crockett. I regret every nice thing I’ve ever said about him.

Here is a story about a group of students who fundraised and worked for an entire year to bring Neil de Grasse Tyson to speak at an event: "We were a small college club with around 10 members and on a whim one of our members emailed tyson's agent to see if we could book him. We found out it would cost 40k (it raised to 50k in December of that year where I think it still might be) for his speaking fee plus expenses to have him come to our college for 1 day where he'd host a small lecture, a press meeting, dinner with up to 6 people, and the main lecture and a book signing time permitting. We decided to go for it, and spent a year where our club exclusively worked on bringing him in. When he arrived, myself and others introduced ourselves and our fields of study. He went after first of us in humanities or soft sciences pretty much relentlessly from the get go. We're all used to the philosophy major working at McDonald's joke, but he wasn't trying to be funny, and spent the ride from the airport making repeated comments about the uselessness of our majors. Additionally he spent about 5 minutes trying to show that logic was stupid but he was citing logical rules and Occam's razor. The small lecture was him bragging about how famous he was, and how easy it is to pull yourself out of poverty or etc. The dinner was for leaders of other clubs so helped us raise money. He took the piss out of how one student held her fork, and was impossibly smug when giving advice to physics students. The main event was a terribly boring lecture consisting of fart jokes and fan service; teasing the upcoming TV series he was in and not much else. He spent a quarter of the time reading Sagan's blue dot, which is nice but shouldn't have cost us because it wasn't his material. He left at about 2am, and we were all exhausted because we had spent the day busy setting up and tearing down. The whole affair cost nearly 85k. The additional money being for locations, personnel, air fare, Tyson's hotel, catering, etc. We all decided he was an ass hole. I'd never want to spend 16 hours with a celebrity again." From another member of the same group: "Neil deGrasse Tyson, who came to our university, gave a crappy speech rife with lame fart jokes, was rude and disrespectful with the people who organized the event (there were a couple campus clubs working on it for about a year). He equated one of the group's member's philosophy major as a degree in mental masturbation. We were so pumped to hear a talk about the universe, astrophysics, black holes and dark matter, and instead he gave a speech on debunking lame pop media science misconceptions such as the "supermoon" because the organizing club is known as a skeptic/secular humanist society. He then basically said he did us a favor and that we "owed him one" for that. He delivered a private lecture to our group and members of the campus physics club in which he realized he had said something witty, whipped out hsi iphone, and spent the next fifteen minutes trying to come up with the perfect wording for it to post it to his twitter. In the middle of a lecture we spent a year's work and $55k total to organize."
I think Neil de Grasse Tyson just plain sucks. He has none of the depth of Carl Sagan, none of the humility Hawking, nor scientific accomplishments. He is a gotcha sound-byte narcissist, an absolute dead weight to society, he just fucking sucks

It is criminal that our government enabled a bat virus to infect and spread between humans. Indeed, it is hard to imagine a bigger betrayal of our species. It is equally troubling that the mad scientists who did this then gaslit all the people of the world about it, including those who CORRECTLY interpreted the evidence. Then, of course, the very same monsters amped up fear of the Covid frankenvirus and steered the panicked public away from safe medicines, and toward an obviously dangerous gene-therapy which they falsely called a vaccine in order to lure us into acceptance. These are among the greatest crimes EVER committed against humanity. We now have persuasive evidence of everything I have said above. If we don't correct the record and hold the perpetrators to account, this pattern will happen again, and again, and again--shortening our life expectancy, and degrading our quality of life each time that it does. This is our Nuremberg moment. We can not simply move on from this ghastly chapter of history. We must finish it. @brownstoneinst

There was a time, Congressman, when it was American to be anti-commie. To be almost violently anti-commie. It’s sad to see that now it’s “MAGA” and that it’s somehow a bad thing to many people. Communism and socialism have no place in the United States. So many of us live here because we fled those bankrupt, racist, ideologies in which the ruling class is rich and everyone else is dirt poor and miserable. So yes, without offending animals, they are animals. Why can’t we just agree on that?

In a study on race and juror decision-making, participants evaluated an identical defendant whose name was either Bradley Schwartz or Jamal Gaines. Black respondents were significantly more likely to convict and more harshly sentence the white-named defendant, while white respondents showed no statistically significant bias in either direction.
It's insane how it's just sorta accepted that having a black person on the jury is a get out of jail free card for black people

Very few. Of the ~100 foreign-born winners of US science Nobels since 1901, the clear examples from Latin America are: - Baruj Benacerraf (Venezuela, 1980 Medicine) - Mario Molina (Mexico, 1995 Chemistry) No notable ones from Central America or the Caribbean. The bulk came from Europe (Germany, UK, Italy, Hungary, etc.), with growing shares from Canada, Japan, China, and the Middle East in recent decades.

Just had a nice conversation with a black guy at the gym. Just family and health stuff. Be careful. The internet is not real life. At least not all of it. The internet looks through a straw.

Think of this. He murders his girlfriend in 1963. He is tried, convicted and sentenced to life with a chance for parole after the jury deadlocks on the death penalty. He spends 21 years in prison and gets out in 1984. The year after his release he meets a new girl who is a drug addict and prostitute. They become roommates. He stabs her within the year and dismembers her corpse while high on crack cocaine. He admits to the murder, but claims it was in self-defense. For some odd reason, the charges are downgraded to manslaughter even though the autopsy results found 33 stab wounds. Only 12 years are added to his revoked life sentence. He applies for parole 15 times over the next 34 years, but is denied until 2019 when he is released due to his advanced age of 81 years. He quickly finds another roommate, a 68-year-old lesbian woman. Less than three years later, he murders this roommate and (again) dismembers her corpse. He pleads not guilty, claiming another female associate did it. This case finally makes it to trial in 2026 - a full four years after the murder. Think of the waste. The two unnecessary deaths, the unnecessary trials, the wasted prison space - all for a guy who should've been put to death sixty years ago after his first murder. And now we are having to waste space again in a prison for some 88-year-old serial killer psycho. It's just absurd.
ALERT: Elderly New York City transgender serial killer who rode around with his girlfriends' severed leg in his electric wheelchair will serve the rest of their life behind bars. 88-year-old Harvey Marcelin was sentenced to life without parole for the murder of his girlfriend, Susan Leyden, 68. Marcelin, who identifies as female, savagely chopped up Leydan with a reciprocating saw in his apartment in 2022. Marcelin then took Leydon's remains and dumped her torso on a street corner and rolled over to a 99 Cent store with the severed leg in his wheelchair. Marcelin has spent more than 50 years in prison, dating back to 1963, for killing 2 of his girlfriends before being let out on parole in 2019 after he promised to stay out of trouble.

Here's a list of the reasons women provide for why they got an abortion. The least common explanation was incest, followed by rape. The most common was that having a baby would be a lot to handle.
