My friend was killed in a traffic accident involving one just two weeks ago.
Over the past two weeks, there have been traffic accidents every single day, many of them fatal.
According to the statistics I have seen, road accidents and deaths have increased dramatically during the war compared to previous years.
This is the reality.
These are the changes war brings.
And this is why it is important to travel with Ukrainians who are experienced, competent, and responsible.
This is not tourism.
This is not extreme adventure.
This is life during a war.
Wenn man die ukrainische Hauptstadt auf eigene Faust erkunden will, kommt man um die Bolt Scooter nicht herum.
Wer sich darauf einlässt muss sich an einen existentiellen Überlebenskampf heranwagen. Die Straßen sind sehr schlecht. Die Autofahrer einem gewissen Wahnsinn verfallen.
Sich ohne Knautschzone in diesem Chaos zu bewegen bedeutet: Ständig Rundumsicht zu gewährleisten. Rote Ampeln zu ignorieren. Immer bremsbereit sein. Rücksichtslos auf Vorfahrt bestehen. Die Grundeinstellung muss sein: "Sie oder ich, es kann nur einen geben."
Nachts kann man vergessen mit dem Scooter zu fahren. Man sieht die Schlaglöcher zu spät. Lebensgefahr².
Wird man mal von einem Auto geschnitten: An der nächsten Ampel hat man ihn. Dann kann man sich in mehreren Sprachen gegeneinander anfluchen.
