With great sadness I have to report that my good friend and colleague Prof Nick Higham FRS has died of cancer. He was 62. Nick was and outstanding numerical analyst, author, and human being. He will be greatly missed, but his work is immortal.

New paper with Christoph Knochenhauer and Alex Merkel arxiv.org/abs/2309.07091 A rigorous look at adaptive control with drift uncertainty - including connections with a (finite dimensional!) HJB equation, and a clear endogenous exploration/exploitation effect!
