NEW: An SU Football spokesperson tells me last year’s graduating class ended up with a 100-percent success rate of players either in NFL camps or having employment in their field of study by July👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
COOL: Fran Brown says SU Football has a program called "Syracuse 60," which guarantees players a job within 60 days of graduating.
"It's important that I get you a job making meaningful money inside of your major," he said.
Brown said he has learned to lean more on his assistant coaches, referencing a line from the movie Paid in Full:
"What's the point in having all of these soldiers if you aren't going to use them?"
Caught up with Fran Brown at the One Orange Alliance Golf Tournament, which raises money for SU Athletics. Asked him how NIL would've helped him as a player.
"I probably would've gotten like $1,000 per month. I would've been extremely excited to send it back and help my family."

“It was beautiful”: 12-year-old Knicks superfan Carmelo Rios was in Madison Square Garden when the New York Knicks made a historic run to win Game 4 in the NBA Finals — but it wasn’t the game Carmelo and his parents, Felix and Angelisa, were initially meant to attend.
Carmelo got tickets to Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals for his 12th birthday, but the Knicks ended up sweeping the Cavaliers in 4. That is when Carmelo’s namesake — Knicks legend Carmelo Anthony — stepped in, securing Game 4 Finals tickets for the family.
When the Knicks game has seconds left right as your sportscast ends, so you have to call it off the TV in the corner to close the show. 😂🏀 KNICKS WIN! From 29 down!!!
- Tied for the 11th-most victories and the eighth-best winning percentage in the history of NCAA men's lacrosse
- The winningest coach at the Division II level with 366 victories.
COOL: The last time the Orange won against Oklahoma was in the NCAA tournament during the team's 2003 title run. GMAC and Carmelo Anthony were on the team, and ironically, the game was played at Siena College. SU will face the Sooners in the ACC/SEC challenge this year🏀🍊
Ten years ago, my math teacher, Gary Kulik, had us write letters to our future selves. He kept them for a decade, and today I got mine back.
I may have forgotten that day's math lesson, but I’ll never forget the impact of a teacher who cared this much.
Thank you, Mr. Kulik.
This is a great watch. GMAC’s speech to the players after the Day 1 workout:
“The way you build a championship team is by what you do everyday, not the first day”🔥
At the school talent show, 11-year-old Samuel didn’t just find his voice — he found his flock. The autistic student with Tourette syndrome can mimic 50 different birds, a talent that had gone unnoticed until that unforgettable performance. @SteveHartmanCBS is On the Road.
Recapping Joey Spallina's debut with the Whipsnakes:
🔶2 goals (One off of a Billy Dwan III assist)
🔶3 assists (One of which moved Rob Pannell into 2nd place on the pro-lacrosse all-time points list
🔶5 points total
And he got to do it all in front of his Dad. Pretty, pretty good.
A great moment as LI’s Rob Pannell moves into second place on the pro lacrosse all-time points list thanks to an assist by LI’s Joey Spallina. It was Spallina’s first PLL game.
Pannell needs 14 points to break the all-time mark. @SuffolkHOF

“It’s going to be great. I think he’s probably the best attackman if not one of the top two or three in the world. To be able to learn from him is going to be great.”

Fran Brown says he’s learned a lot this year from the coaches he has on staff.
“It feels good not being the most intelligent one in the room,” he said.
Said this year he’s focused on being demanding without being demeaning
Dan Arestia on Finn Thomson in his article for USA Lacrosse: "He’s got exceptional hands, is tremendous off ball, and is a creative and effective goal scorer...also played very well with the ball in his stick."
