Yesterday, @GCAARNow began distributing materials to DC voters claiming that our Council along with @IAFF36 and DC Nurses endorsed @kenyanmcduffie. This claim is patently false.
Not only did we NOT endorse McDuffie, not a single union has endorsed him. Our statement:
Last night on behalf of the @DCLabor & with Council President @SamEppsIV we joined Pastor @DelonteGholston in a Peace Walk. We walked in the Deadwood neighborhood in ward 7. We provided information to the people in the community on how to get union jobs. #1u#peacewalksdc#ward7
It was a great day for the MARJB team to be out supporting an event like the @DCLabor Community Services Agencies 28th Annual Golf Tournament! The event is a fundraiser for union members in need of Emergency Assistance. Our team is 📸 with Council President @SamEppsIV! #wumarjb

BREAKING: Trump says D.C. restaurants are “bursting.” Reality check.
After his Aug 11 police takeover, OpenTable shows seated diners in Washington fell 16% that day, then cratered 31% by Aug 13, and were still down around 20% through Aug 16.
Restaurant Week kicked off Aug 18 and the slump stuck, with marquee operators saying there’s no uptick.
Restaurant reservations in DC plunged after Trump announced his takeover. It’s no surprise that rolling out troops into the streets dampens consumer appetite.
Mike Fanone: " I worked alongside federal partners as a D.C. Metropolitan Police officer. There is a place for that. That place is not having roving bands of officers in tactical gear aimlessly walking around Georgetown creating the optics of an occupying force."
NEW: Reservations at D.C. restaurants dropped 16% YoY the day Trump announced his police takeover. The next day, 27%. By Day 3 they were down 31% compared to 2024.
It couldn't come at a worse time. D.C. Summer Restaurant Week starts... tomorrow. wusa9.com/article/news/local…
RIGHT NOW: @freedcproject_ is holding a protest on the plaza in front of the White House as we await the President’s press conference.
We’re hearing he’ll deploy the National Guard to patrol DC, but we should learn more any minute now.
Protestors say “Hands off DC!” @wusa9
"When organized labor works together, we win. This stadium will be union-built, and its hotel and restaurants will have the right to organize because our building trades, hospitality, food services, and building services unions have partnered to deliver for workers.
Huge news: The bipartisan bill to restore federal workers’ union rights has majority support in Congress!
