Remembrance doesn’t stop for many of us today, Veterans remember every day. But just to summarise the last 48 hours…what I have learnt and wish to share…
The Cenotaph was a much more joyful experience this year. Full of camaraderie, love and respect. If you’re interested in joining the Afghans Veterans Community, drop
@jonnyball79 a line this week. It’s a safe and friendly bunch, joined in service and duty in Afghanistan.
Secondly…the Iraq/Afghan war memorial is outside MOD main building on embankment. It surprises me how few people know it exists. If you’re in London, it’s a beautiful place to go and pay your respects. Very few there yesterday, which again indicates people don’t know where to find it.
Lastly, it matters NOT what u have on ur chest. We saw one lonely gentleman yesterday wearing a solo Herrick Medal on the right. His son lost his life on Herrick and his wife took her life a few months later, being overwhelmed with grief. 😞ALL and ANY service is valid, and not one person yesterday judged someone by their chest of medals.
Duty and Service, Sums it all up….🫡
