Ardent Flagstaffian. Author of "Running to Glory" and "Crossing California," available in all the usual places. A guy who sure could use a glass of iced tea now

I wrote a profile of @NAZ_Elite's Ahmed Muhumed, who'll compete in World Cross. He cares about his times and global inequality, fights to improve both. An elite runner, former refugee, scholar, activist. He contains multitudes. flagstaffrunningnews.com/fea…
I did a little Q-and-A with Weini Kelati for Flagstaff Running News before Saturday’s The Ten, in which she talks (a little) about her future in the marathon. flagstaffrunningnews.com/fea…
I have launched a new running website, flagstaffrunningnews.com -- a source for news, results and features about pro, college, prep, community and trail runners in Flagstaff. Check it out, please. Also, please follow me at @flagrunnningnews
As a sportswriter, I saw some things: Gibson’s walk-off HR in ‘88 Series; Lakers winning title at Boston Garden. Takes a lot to impress me. But Fiona O’Keeffe’s Oly Trails run moved me. Gutsy to take off at M 16 in her debut. Watched her since Davis High days. So happy for her.
Here’s a big thank you to the @CityofFlagstaff for smoothing out and adding soil to the @FUTS50Miles on the badly eroded Santa Fe and up the Tunnel Springs hill trails. Enjoyable run this morning.
.@NAUTrackFieldXC lands a big commitment from @NPHSXC’s Aaron Sahlman. He’s got personal bests of 1:48.91 for 800m, 4:01.34 for the mile and 8:01.72 for 3000m. Certainly a contender to join the sub-4 club indoor season.
His brother, @ColinSahlman, is a freshman at NAU.
In one week, ex-Davis High xc runner Fiona O’Keeffe wins a US 10-mile title and ex-Davis xc runner Chelsea Reilly Sodaro wins Ironman Kona. This guy pictured (Bill Gregg) did a pretty good job getting their careers started. @DavisSrHighXC
Not often an @NAUTrackFieldXC All-American moonlights as a xc stringer for the local paper. Great job, Drew Bosley. You could tell an actual runner wrote it — no offense to other sportswriters, though. Let’s see more of that.
The steady mountains in the backdrop of Buffalo Park resembled the steady performances of the Flagstaff High School cross country teams, which swept the Four Corners Invitational behind dominating victories, with 29 points in the boys varsity race and 34… azdailysun.com/sports/local/…

Terrific piece re Flag “It’s important that we move beyond what’s minimally required by law. Only from a position of respect for what sacred sites like the San Francisco Peaks represent to the tribes can we start the conversation about how we manage these places into the future.”
Well, this is impressive: 8 of the top 20 finishers at today’s NY Mini 10K are Flagstaffians. It’s fun to live here and see @shazrinee and @KINGCHEZZ cruising on the forest roads. They’ll even wave at slugs like me. results.nyrr.org/event/22MIN…
