Joining the Annual Council Meeting of the World Customs Organisation in Brussels. The @WCO_OMD and the @WTO are strong partners in making sure the knots and bolts of trade work with respect to Product Classification, Trade Facilitation, and Rules of Origin. Combatting illicit trade and illicit financial flows is another emerging area of great partnership. Thanks to WCO Secretary General Ian Saunders and WCO Council Chair Edward Kieswetter for a great interaction. Also with the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service Mr Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Director General of Benin Customs Mrs. Adidjatou Hassan Zanouvi and Commissioner of the Namibian Revenue Agency Mr Sam Shivute.

Namibia Breweries Limited, Standard Bank Namibia, and First National Bank Namibia are among the top tax contributors in the country.
These entities were recognized at the Namibia Revenue Agency's (NamRA) fourth annual Taxpayer/Trader Appreciation Day, themed “Empowering Taxpayers and Traders through Education.”
Also honored during the event were domestic taxpayers, the highest contributors from the northern and southern regions, as well as the highest individual and youngest contributors, among others.
The awards were based on assessments conducted from January to September 2024.
This annual event aims to promote voluntary compliance and foster a culture of tax morale by recognizing and celebrating taxpayers and traders who have demonstrated exemplary adherence to the laws administered by NamRA.

[ICYMI] Dr Nthabiseng Debeila represented the ATAF Women In Tax Network (AWITN) in a panel discussion on bridging gender gaps in public finance during the @UNDP 2025 Dialogue on Public Finance and #SDGs in New York 🇺🇸. Dr Debeila provided an overview of the support for AWITN in bridging gender gaps.
Equally, AWITN Gender Champion, Mr @SamSHIVUTE, highlighted the role of a gendered approach to public finance, which requires a transformation agenda from the national level "I am excited about the AWITN Pledge we signed during the 2024 Annual Meetings. It will help us crystalize gender-responsive tax administration and policy." Mr Shivute added.

Mr. @SamSHIVUTE - Commissioner General, @NamRA_org_na urges men and women to work together to achieve gender equality during a session that explored strategies for enhancing gender equality in tax policy and administration, at the ATAF Annual Meetings, hosted by the @rrainfo in Kigali.
"Both men and women need to hold hands and build a better Africa. At @NamRA_org_na 64% of our employees are female, in the leadership, 46% are female. It's based on merit and competence, we don't compromise on that. There is no shortage of capable female leaders."
