Heavier with higher bonnets & worse vision, bigger SUVs are:

Had a very negative interaction with someone driving a Ute branded with a well known good brand. Was surprised. Called the company, turns out the vehicle was now owned by a new company, which is renowned for being shit; but the branding hadn’t been changed. Brand values matter.

A 3yr study allowing Parisian cyclists to treat some red traffic lights as "give way" sign led to a *reduction* in collisions between cycles and motor vehicles during the trial period and is now being more widely implemented.
Suspect some British drivers would rage about this!

Very, very few people are capable of breaking the speed limit, even the 20mph one, on a bicycle. Legal electric-assist bicycles in the UK are limited to 15mph. The problem being identified here is with illegal electric motorcycles and e-scooters, which are nothing to do with cycling.

I note that Mercury Energy is offering free energy for a day as a grand prize. They ought to be ashamed of themselves, our elderly can’t afford heating during the winter, and all families I know ration power. But hey, put a huge media campaign to give it away for a day.

I’m visiting another city, and I’m sans motorcycle. I’m in a nice enough car, but all I can see is the empty space between the tidy lanes of cars, and my skin is itching as I count down the days until I get back behind bars.

Stopped for an entire light cycle on Wellesley St W — raised curb, zero tolerance, $200 ticket served.
No excuses, no exceptions. This is safety infrastructure.

Public apology to the guy in the green shirt, on the green bike lane, on a white bike amongst white poles. I wasn’t kidding when I said I couldn’t see you. Tinted visor for me, sun on an angle, and a cluttered background. Wasn’t close, but could have been - my apologies.
