Happy 1 year anniversary to Reddit Collectible Avatars. First off, thank you, you truly changed my life.
Holy crap. Looking at every one of these avatars gives me nostalgia. I remember my first free Reddit Avatar, a Drip Squad. It was part of 4 collections, Meme Team, Drip Squad, Aww Friends, and Singularity.
I had always wanted to get into NFTs, aka Digital Collectibles, but never knew how! I sold my Drip Squad for $10 and used that money to flip the free ones from the other three collections. Pretty soon I was building an army of these, every morning I would wake up to sales and buys.
Then I decided to step it up. I stayed up until 3:00 AM researching the other paid collections and performances trying to figure out what would be next. I was barely making it financially at the time with huge summer tuition payments on top of rent so I went light. As I started working as a server, it helped me more, I just had to get out of the hole a bit.
Well I flipped what I bought pretty quickly and decided to go heavier but not crazy. About $1400 was all I spent on everything and constantly paid myself back into the bank. I put offers in below floor and would sell at floor. People told me I was a worthless human for doing this…anyways I kept doing it, I was adding volume and liquidity, plus legit making around $300 per day. It’s how a market works. My goal was to get to $1,000, then $10,000, then $26,000. I walked away with a fraction of this amount because I “reinvested.” Basically sold high and rebought high, lesson learned.
Now aside from the money, and btw, my story is only half as crazy as others I’ve seen. People selling
#1s for $30,000 and Midas Touch minting for $100 and selling for $20,000.
I also met the most amazing people ever during this process. My favorite was a small Telegram chat with about 30 of us. Man, this chat was special and people I met there I consider my friends, even though it’s online…some day, we may meet up IRL somewhere. Most of these people are from Europe and India, so the issue was that they would wake up right when I was going to bed, so I had so many nights where I was going to bed at 5:00 AM😂. The crazy thing is, Reddit Avatars were so exciting, I would wake up at 8:00 AM before any alarms and get to it! I still talk to these amazing people very regularly.
The second group of people I connected with were in the subreddit and ones I recognized on Twitter whom have become my friends here! You know the Polygon Apes
@0xPolygonApe? I decided to go into them because other Reddit Avatar people were. Since then, Polygon Apes has made out to be the most special community in space to me.
I won’t forget about the artists! I have met a handful of such talented and nice artists. It has been so wonderful to be able to meet them! Before Reddit Avatars, art was cool to me, but I gained a high appreciation for it and the unique styles. Some of the Reddit Avatars are my favorite pieces of art I have ever seen!
Reddit Avatars pushed me into the space, gave me some funds to begin with, got me to use Twitter and now I have learned about so many projects, met SOOOO many wonderful people as a chain reaction, and I love it here. I would likely still have not entered this side of the space and wouldn’t know most of you.
What an amazing experience this has been to be a part of. It has been SOOO fun.
