In light of the childcare Wordle trend, I thought it would be "fun" to illustrate the childcare we've had access to for the past year or so while we both work full-time. Yellow denotes partial care, green is for full day. It's been a brutal year.

And btw, parents still have to pay the full monthly rate even if their kid is out for half the month. We're lucky that it's *only* about $1900 a month for UCSB employees here - I've heard far worse numbers from friends in big cities.

So anyway - try to be patient with your colleagues and instructors with little ones. We're doing our best!

new paper from my postdoc work: we found that an attended distractor during spatial WM transiently disrupts neural WM representations, but they recover. importantly, the distractor induced a neural bias in visual, but not parietal, cortex, which predicted behavior recall errors

Beautiful work from @flickerfusion (as always)!

How do thalamic inputs to L1 influence inhibition and dendritic activity? Our paper in @NeuroCellPress shows how it depends on the thalamic nucleus, with MD and VM targeting different L1 sublayers and interneuron subtypes in the PFC. cell.com/neuron/fulltext/S08… Summary in thread:
🚨The next instalment of our PFC thalamo-cortical project is out on bioRxiv 🚨 It’s got interneurons, rabies tracing, optogenetics, 2 types of disinhibition and cell-type-specific dendritic calcium signalling. Summary below 1/n disq.us/t/3l4r9wm
