A better question would be "Why would a character that evil be hanging out with a group of good adventurers?" If the character is just doing it to mess with goodies then obviously the good guys should ditch them. It could be much more interesting than that though if they wanted.

Like if the party is forced in some way to deal with the evil character because they made a promise, or he has blackmail etc.

Depends if they're smart evil or "Bioware evil" i.e. their evil choices are to kick babies and steal their candy. A smart evil character will look for opportunities to enrich themselves without tipping off the goody two-shoes of the party.

Like if the party just delivered an artifact to the local lord, the smart evil character can work with the DM to have underworld connections to sell the info that an expensive artifact is ripe for the picking.

If she didn't die of heartbreak after giving birth Palpatine probably still would've told Anakin she was dead to break him completely and then sent assassins to finish her off. If she managed to survive and contact Vader then he would've killed Palpatine and reunited with her.

Not saying that's good. It's still dumb, but not impossible if there was a small twist of fate.

Why'd they even have to establish that Earth died? Just say that Sol system travel is strictly regulated after the Colony Wars. The Starfield universe is so bleak. Every Earth species besides humans is dead because they were too stupid to save them and nobody gives a shit.

It's only been less than 200 years since the Earth died. There should be cults of people trying to remake Earth. Not some stupid snake cult where everyone has to get tattoos and ugly haircuts. The world building of Starfield is below middle-school writing.

How about you start classless but you can choose to specialize in a class for unique powerful bonuses but you have to meet skill requirements? Joining guilds and doing their quests levels the skills of their linked classes faster and you need to pick a class before ranking up.

Then after you've mastered your first class halfway you're given an option to get a second class but both of their initial bonuses are slightly reduced but you also get a special hybrid bonus.

What's even the point of AT-ST laser cannons if you need to hit the enemy directly? Baby yoda should be liquified from the shockwave.

NTE Nanally Character PV丨In Me, The Tiger The Tiger Boss once ruled the Tigereau Family. Before disappearing, he left his medallion... Legends say that whoever holds the medallion, holds everything that belongs to the Tigereau family! However— "Heroes don't need this to prove themselves!"

I think he'd work better if he retired because at his power level the heroes that rose to fight him were like cosmic-level so he decided to find a new reality and try and persuade CN villains to limit their deeds to be mischievous to avert power-scaling arms races.

That way it could be like a meta reason why kids cartoon villains are generally more tame. And when he sees guys like the Adventure Time Lich he gets annoyed because it reminds him of his old self when he was unrestricted.

What's funny is the article is actually referring to how the devs are quick to respond to player feedback to features they find lacking and the journo thinks it's strange they aren't keeping it a "unforgiving soulslike" (it never was).

People have been bemoaning the "lack of friction" in recent games but really a lot of the stuff in CD was just Pearl Abyss changing it from a MMO and overlooking a bunch of things like a storage system and putting the storage in a easy to access place instead of behind NPCs.

You just stand on the edge of the arena by the doors of the tower and go back inside every once in a while to reset the "outside of mission area" timer. Then you just use the sky laser attack over and over until the boss gets staggered so you can do a finisher on him.

It should be even easier now that they improved Damiane's shield toss.

They could do it immersively with the road signs. Have the White Witch send a dove to sit on the arrow of the road you're supposed to take. Or have a pile of the spirit leaves sitting on the road you're supposed to take and they scatter as you ride through.

But make in an option that can be turned off because I can see people getting annoyed with it if it was always on when you set a waypoint.

People would put up with those loading screens if there was something worth it on the other side. But what does Starfield have? A bunch of poorly written quests and lackluster firefights. If the game actually took place during the Colony War and you loaded into massive battles.
1

THAT might make it worth suffering through the ten loading screens to get from the Warrant Officer to the battlefield.

Yeah it gets disappointing when all they have is a special move that gets activated from certain attacks and most of them aren't even that useful, even worse when all they have is "attack up" or "critical up" on the weapon.

Luckily later in the game there are the weapons you craft at the Kuku Pot dwarf after you unlock the recipes from clearing Sanctuaries.

It makes sense when you consider the economies across the world full of consumers who have gone all-in on being gacha/MTX whales and there's BILLIONS of them. So investors will dump money on studios to make stuff for them because while it's risky the payoff is GIGANTIC.
1
28
Meanwhile when you've got even marginally successful story games they just shut the studio down or have them change to making the live service slop. All because the story game didn't make ALL of the money.

One of the ancient evil guys? I farmed abyss gears until I got a infinite arrows 2 and infinite arrows 3 for 100% infinite arrows. Then I just spam explosive arrows with the "double tap dodge while aiming" skill. It's either that or natures snare projectiles to defeat most bosses

And I don't feel bad about it because I'm playing CD to explore and solve puzzles, not for the half-assed bosses that barely work.

"What games let you stop doing a quest and do something else" Uh, a lot of them. And that's not necessarily a good thing. It means all your quests have no time pressure and nobody cares you left and did something else on the way to rescue the Count of Kvatch for in-game months.

I think the takeaway other devs should get from CD is that puzzle mechanics can be better if you only see them once or twice. If this were an AC game this would be one of a dozen red light-green light puzzle ruins and the game would tell you exactly what to do every time.

On the other hand: There's 40 Abyss puzzles but the solutions are so varied it doesn't feel like a checklist activity.
