This is my home. And it looks like another planet. My Dad, Michael Doering, is right to say that "It's frustrating in #SouthAustralia that we don't get recognized as being in drought." @marshall_steven, @TimWhetstoneMP, please give our farmers a fair go.
While the bushfire crisis cripples the nation, local farmers want to remind South Australians about the extreme drought on Adelaide's doorstep. If it doesn't break soon, some could be forced to walk away altogether. 7NEWS.com.au @caseytreloar #7NEWS

Paul Pfeiffer's 'At the Window' speaks to me in a way no other poem can. #poetry #poetryforthewin
Can you think of a poem that creeps into your mind on a regular basis, one that you love and won't leave you?
What about changing #AustraliaDay to May 8th? "May 8" sounds like "Maaate", and that is who we are as Aussies. We are mates who help our neighbours, who look out for one another no matter our birthplace or story. Nothing could be more Australian.

As far as I know, the date is untarnished, with the only notable event being V.E. Day in 1945. With this blank slate, we can celebrate together. May 8 would respect our shared history and reflect our humour. Neither would it put salt into the wound of Aboriginal identity.

I love looking at old illustrations and photographs. 👀📷🔎 I am struck by the number of church spires in the vicinity of St Pauls - what is now the glass and concrete City of London. It seems Old Parliament House is also visible further up stream.
An extremely busy view of the River Thames by Robert Havell #London c.1831 - with new London Bridge on show and a sprinkling of those new fangled steamboats

Politics has become more about being somebody rather than doing something. A new emphasis on truth-telling in a post-T***p world needs to be spearheaded by leaders in government. We, as the electorate, need to call out misinformation. A pleasing and punchy read, @latingle.
The Trump presidency has allowed too many politicians here to borrow from his playbook of stretching the truth. bit.ly/3qIISQg
Hopefully with an enormous Gatsby-esque party.
Serious question: How does the pandemic end?

I have one person in mind...
Word of the day is 'exsibilate' (17th century): to hiss a poor performer off the stage.

An effective and functioning government, with a compassionate and intelligent leadership is the most attractive thing ever. #BidenHarrisInauguration #ByeTrump
There is no time to waste when it comes to tackling the crises we face. That's why today, I am heading to the Oval Office to get right to work delivering bold action and immediate relief for American families.
*breathe a collective sigh of relief*

It’s a new day in America.

A second #impeachment against Trump is the most damning indictment possible. Another precedent has been set at the end of what's been a disastrous, scandalous and unprecedented term. I'm curious how, once the dust has settled, future #historians will judge this president.
I never received any formal civics classes at school. I had learn about the duties of a citizen and the functions of government myself. I was lucky that @YMCAYPSA with the @AusElectoralCom gave me the opportunity to learn. Teaching civics is an absolute necessity.
Another lesson of this past week may be that it has not been such a great idea for civics and history classes to be reduced or eliminated in so many of our schools.

Good morning. Today is day 26 of hard lockdown in #Germany. Started like day 25; will probably be much the same as day 27. A hope worth repeating: we are another day closer to the end of the pandemic.
